Operating the Sous Vide
  1. Ensure that the water bath contains water before use. The water should not be higher than the MAX level, nor lower than the MIN level. If there is no water in the bath, or the water is lower than the MIN level, the unit will not work and the LCD display will show the error code E04.
  2. Plug the power lead into the back of the unit securely, then plug it into a wall socket.
  3. Place the bags holding the vacuum packaged food into the pouch rack and then put the rack into the water bath.
  4. Set the time and temperature using the control buttons.
  5. Press the “Start” button and the unit will start to work. The marks of heating and water cycling will display on the LCD screen.
  6. If the set time runs out, the device will not shut off. It will continue to work for one hour, with a “beep” warning tone every minute unless the user presses the “stop” button to shut the unit off.
  7. When the set temperature is reached, the unit will stop heating and the “heating” icon will disappear. If the set time has not been reached and the temperature of the water is still lower than what has been set, the unit will start heating again with the heating icon showing.
  8. If the temperature passes 85°C, the pump will stop working and the water cycling will stop automatically.

NOTES

  • If the pump makes a noise when the machine is starting up, that just means the water in the bath is starting to cycle. After 5-10 seconds the noise will disappear.
  • When putting water into the bath, ensure the water level is between the MIN and MAX levels.
  • This cooker is not suitable for cooking food directly. Food MUST be packaged into bags before putting it into the bath.
  • If the bag breaks or leaks during cooking, please take it out, clean the water bath fully and then start again when the food has been repacked.
  • If the cooker makes abnormal noises during cooking, it may be caused by impurities being sucked into the pump. Please stop the unit, clean it and then restart.
  • After use, please empty the water out of the bath.
Care and Cleaning
  • Do not leave water sitting in the bath after use. Allow the water to cool, then remove the racks and using the offset handles for stability, pour the bath contents out into a sink.
  •  Dry the interior with a soft, clean cloth.
  • If impurities are sucked into the pump, please pour the water out of the bath, then take the baffle off using a screwdriver. Pour in new clean water (adding a small amount of detergent if necessary) and use the machine as normal without any food packages inside. The water cycle should wash away the impurities gradually. When the cooker has cleaned, please stop the unit and pour the water out.
  • Never immerse the unit into water or any other liquid for cleaning.
  • Never use abrasive or harsh chemicals to clean the sous vide.
  • Never put the sous vide into a dishwasher.
Troubleshooting

Machine won’t start

Be sure the unit is plugged in and outlet is working.

Make certain to press the START/STOP button. If the unit  fails to start, reposition finger and try again.

Machine beeps during the cooking  process

If the water in the bath is lower than the MIN level before  and during the cooking process, the machine will beep and the LCD display will show the error code E04. When this  message is seen, please check that there is sufficient water in the machine.

The temperature is not holding to within 0.3° C

Check to be sure that there is sufficient water in the unit  (ie – the water at least reaches the MIN mark.)

Check to be sure that cooking pouches are not lying on  the bottom, occluding all or most of the holes in the  perforated bottom grill or impeding circulation around the  perimeter of the bath.

LCD display is turned off and won’t turn on

Check to see if there is any water in the unit. If the unit  was accidentally turned on with no water in it, unplug the  unit from the wall and let it cool. Once unit has cooled, use again as normal.

Ensure the power cord is plugged in correctly and  switched on.

If the problem persists, please contact the Kogan customer support team for information.
