  • Step 1: Hook-Up

  • Step 2: ControlsGAIN knob adjusts the input signal level.PHONO/LINE switch selects the channel’s audio source.LEVEL METER displays the MAIN OUT signal level on the VMX300/VMX1000. Press the MAIN/PFL button on the VMX100/VMX200 to select the displayed signal.MAIN OUT (LEVEL) knob adjusts the volume of the main outputs. On the VMX300/VMX1000, OUT A and B adjust the level of the AMP and BOOTH/MAIN 2 outputs respectively. BAL A adjusts the stereo balance of the OUT A signal.TALK knob adjusts the volume reduction of the music when you speak into the microphone, allowing your voice to be heard clearly. Press the TALK (ON) button to engage the effect.EQ knobs adjust the high, mid (VMX300/VMX1000), and low frequencies of the channel by -32 dB or up to +12 dB.
  • Step 2: Controls

CROSSFADER fades between your sound sources. Use the CROSSFADER CURVE knob to determine the slope of the crossfade.

BEAT COUNTER section assists in syncing up the audio sources for smooth crossfades. See Getting Started step 7 for details

TEMPO DIFFERENCE and TIME OFFSET LEDs (VMX100/VMX200/VMX300) indicate the difference in tempo and beat synchronization between audio sources.

(XPQ) SURROUND knob adjusts the amount of stereo enhancement on the mix. Press the adjacent button to activate the  effect.

PFL LEVEL knob (pre-faderlisten) adjusts the volume of the headphone mix. Press the PFL button (VMX300/VMX1000) on each channel that you would like to hear in the PFL mix.

PFL MIX knob fades between channels 1 and 2 on the VMX100/VMX200 or between the PFL and MAIN signal on the VMX300/VMX1000. If the VMX1000’s MODE switch is set to SPLIT, the signals are heard separately in the left and right ear.

  • Step 2: Controls

MIC INPUT knobs adjust the EQ and volume of the microphone input. The ON button turns the mic on and off.MIC AUX knobs adjust each microphone’s signal level at the MIC AUX SEND jack.EQ BYPASS button deactivates the EQ knobs.POWER switch turns the power on and off. This switch is located on the rear panel of the VMX100/VMX200/ VMX300.FX RET knob adjusts the amount of signal from theMIC AUX RETURN jacks that is included in the main mix. ASSIGN knobs A and B select the audio source for each side of the CROSSFADER.SENS knob adjusts how loud the microphone signal must be to engage the TALK function. The nearby DPT knob controls the volume reduction of the music.

  • Step 2: Controls

    REVERSE HOLD/TAP switch inverts the direction of the crossfader, allowing rapid switching between audio sources. Pressing the switch down momentarily engages the effect until released. Step 3: Getting started

  1. Make all the appropriate power, audio, USB and speaker connections to the mixer. Leave the power on all devices off!
  2. With the MAIN OUT knob(s) all the way down, turn your mixer on.
  3. Turn on your audio sources and begin playing audio into the mixer.
  4. Raise the MAIN OUT and PFL/PHONES knobs to desired level.
  5. Raise the GAIN knob on each channel that is receiving a signal. If the red clip LED on any of the channel meters (VMX300/VMX1000) lights up, lower the GAIN knob. On the VMX100/VMX200, lower the GAIN knob if you hear the audio distorting.
  6. Adjust the relative level of the audio sources by raising each CHANNEL fader.
  7. The tempos (BPM) of the selected audio sources appear in the Beat Counter display. Press the SYNC LOCK button to avoid having the displayed tempo jump rapidly. You may also press the BEAT ASSIST button in rhythm to the music to manually enter the tempo (i.e., “tap tempo”).
  8. Once each source has its respective tempo locked, the TEMPO DIFFERENCE LEDs will inform you if the tempos match. The meter will light in the direction of the source that is faster. When the green LED lights, the tempos match.
  9. Even when the tempos match, the beats may not be perfectly synced up between the sources. The TIME OFFSET LEDs will light in the direction of the source whose audio is out of sync. When the green LED lights, the audio is in sync.

  10. To exit SYNC LOCK, press the SYNC LOCK button for each source.
