BEFORE USING THE DEVICE, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY AND CAREFULLY. CORRECT APPLICATION IS VITAL TO THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE DEVICE.

INTENDED USER PROFILE:The intended user should be a licensed medical professional or the patient’s caregiver.The user or caregiver should be able to read, understand and be physically capable of performing all the directions, warnings and cautions provided in the information for use.

INTENDED USE/INDICATIONS: The Procare Quick-Release Zippered Body Holder is designed to provide comfort and positional support to wheelchair or in-bed patients.Providing temporary restraint of a limb or body segment for positional support.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: If you have skin disorders/injuries in the relevant part of the body, the product should be fitted and worn only after consultation with a medical professional.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:

  • This product is to be prescribed and fitted by a physician.
  • Failure to follow the instructions for use may result in serious injury.
  • If you experience any pain, swelling, changes in sensation or other unusual reactions occur while using this product, you should contact your medical professional immediately.
  • Do not use over open wounds.
  • Always inspect product prior to application to ensure all parts are in proper working order.
  • Do not use this device if it was damaged and/or the package has been opened.
  • Failure to follow the instructions for use or failure to obtain a proper fit may result in serious injury or even death. Follow all instructions for use to obtain a proper fit.
  • Discontinue use when torn, worn, frayed or damaged.
  • Do not use on combative patients.
  • When a patient is in a restrictive product in bed or on a stretcher or gurney, all side rails MUST be in the UP position. All straps must be checked routinely to ensure they are secure. All straps must be secured short enough so the patient cannot become entangled. Always monitor patient when using a restraining device. Tighten straps without restricting patient’s circulation.
  • The weight ranges on the front are general guidelines for selecting the proper size body holder, however, individual physical characteristics should be taken into consideration when determining the appropriate size.

APPLICATION INFORMATION:

1 Place modified crew-neck at front of patient. Zipper closure should be located at back of patient. Make sure side seams are located under the arms. If they are not, the sizing may be incorrect. (Fig. 1)2 Zip up towards the patient’s neck. (Fig. 2)3a IN-BED PATIENTS – Adjust waist ties located on both sides of restraint for proper fit. Secure the straps, using quick-release buckles, to a movable part of the bed frame at waist level, out of the patient’s reach.WARNING: Do not secure straps to stationary section of bed which does not move when patient is raised or lowered. Extra straps can be used to secure through loops located below the arm holes of restraint . Each strap must pass through one loop only and secured to bed frame. (Fig. 3a)3b WHEELCHAIR PATIENTS – Adjust waist ties located on both sides of restraint for proper fit. Position the patient as far back in the seat as possible, with the buttocks against the back of the chair. Bring the straps over the hips at a 45-degree angle and pass down between the seat and the wheelchair sides. Criss-cross the straps, and use quick-release buckles to attach straps to the opposite side kick spurs, out of the patient’s reach. If the chair has an adjustable seat, secure straps to a movable part of the chair frame, out of the patient’s reach. (Fig. 3b)

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Restraint straps must be secured at a point outside patient’s reach.
  • Always monitor patient. Patient must be checked periodically to insure all ties are secure and patient has not slid down.
  • This restraint is not designed for use on patients who are violent.
  • In an emergency, straps may be cut with scissors to release patient.
  • Always inspect product prior to application to ensure all parts are in proper working order. Discontinue use if torn, worn, frayed or damaged in any way.

SIZING It is important to use correct size restraint for each patient. When measuring be careful to measure circumference of patient’s chest.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS: Hand wash in warm water with mild soap. Rinse thoroughly.AIR DRY.

WARRANTY

DJO, LLC will repair or replace all or part of the unit and its accessories for material or workmanship defects for a period of six months from the date of sale.
