Hook-Up

Controls

Push encoder knobs – there are 8 endless encoders, each with a detent and push function (not illuminated), and a 13-segment amber LED ring. These knobs are typically used in Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) applications for fine control of parameters such as Pan control of Ch. 1 to 8, or individual level adjustments.
Select buttons – there are 2 x 8 soft touch buttons with amber backlit LEDs. These are typically used for DAW mixer applications (e.g. Solo, Mute of Ch. 1 to 8), DAW transport applications (e.g. play, rec, stop), lighting applications (spotlight on/off), and sample triggering (notes on/off).
MC button – this standard select button can also be used to switch the unit between Mackie Control mode and standard mode as follows: Press and hold it down while connecting the unit to a live computer’s USB port. Release the MC button when the MC MODE LED on the right lights continuously. The mode is remembered after power-off and unplugging from the USB port. Repeat this procedure to change the unit back to standard mode.
MC MODE LED – this amber LED lights when the unit is operating in MC mode.
Layer A and B buttons – these 2 soft touch buttons with amber backlit LEDs, allow selection between preset A or preset B in standard mode: Press “A” to select “Preset A,” press “B” to select “Preset B.” In MC mode, there are different assignments. See MIDI Map on page 16.
Fader – this standard non-motorized 60 mm fader is typically used for the control of level functions in DAW applications.
USB Mini-B connector – this connects to a computer’s USB A port for bus-powering and data transfer (send/receive). The unit is USB powered through this connection. (Plug directly to the computer’s USB A port, and not to a keyboard’s USB port.)

Getting started

OVERVIEW

This ‘Getting Started Guide’ will help you set up your X-TOUCH MINI and briefly introduce its capabilities. The X-TOUCH MINI is a mini-sized helper to expand software DAW/instrument control with handy illuminated buttons and encoders, and a 60 mm fader. It can also be used as a stand-alone trigger controller for mobile / live performance.It has predefined standard MIDI assignments in 2 selectable presets A and B, and an MC (Mackie Control) mode.Editing (if required) can be done using the free X-TOUCH editor software.

SOFTWARE SET-UP

The X-TOUCH MINI is a USB Class Compliant MIDI device, and so no driver installation is required. The X-TOUCH editor software application and its quick start guide are available as free downloads from behringer.com. This application is the only way that the MIDI functions of the unit can be edited, and the firmware updated.

HARDWARE SET-UP

Connect your X-TOUCH MINI directly to an available USB port on your Mac* or PC using the supplied USB cable. It is also possible to connect to an iPad* or other iOS device via either the Apple* Lightning* to USB Camera Adapter, or the iPad Camera Connection Kit USB adapter for older 30-pin devices.

Mackie Control Mode

To switch between standard operating mode and MC (Mackie Control) mode, press and hold down the MC button in the bottom left corner when connecting the USB cable to a live computer. Hold the button down until the MC MODE LED lights continuously. The MC MODE LED will turn on when the unit is in MC mode. The unit will stay in the current mode until this procedure is repeated to change back to standard mode.
