Each JP45 Bottle-Jack Tray holds one or two Bottle Jacks (not included) that let you get a Vehicle’s wheels up off the Runways of a 4-post Lift, making it easier to perform wheel and suspension work. More information about BendPak products, including 4-post Lifts, is available at bendpak.com.

Components

The drawing on the cover page shows the main components of the JP45 Tray:

  • Tray Bed. Holds the Bottle Jacks.
  • Extendable Arms. Move-in and out to fit the space between the two Runways. Make sure the Slide Blocks are sitting all the way down into the Channels of the Utility Rails.
  • Arm Tubes. On the outside of the JP45 Tray, they hold the Extendable Arms.
  • Lock Screws. Go through the Arm Tubes and press against the Extendable Arms, which helps to hold the JP45 in place.
  • Slide Blocks. Sit in the Channels of the Lift’s Utility Rails.

Weight Restrictions

Important: The following weight restrictions are valid for Bottle Jacks up to 20 lb / 9 kg each. If your Bottle Jacks weigh more than 20 lb / 9 kg, you must subtract the overage from the rated capacity of the JP45 Tray.Depending on how you use your JP45 Tray, there are certain weight restrictions:

  • If you are using two Bottle Jacks in the JP45 Tray, you can raise up to 2,250 lb (1,021 kg) on each Bottle Jack (the full rated capacity of the JP45 Tray), as long as the center of the two Bottle Jacks is at least 12 in / 305 mm apart from each other.
  • If you are using one Bottle Jack in the JP45 Tray, you can raise up to 3,500 lb (1,588 kg).

WARNING Do not exceed the rated capacity of the JP45 Tray at any time for any reason; you could damage the Lift, the JP45 Tray, the Vehicle on the Lift, and injure anyone in the vicinity of the Lift. Exceeding the rated capacity voids your warranty.

Safety Rules

Important: Your safety depends on reading, understanding, and implementing these Safety Rules. Do not skip over them; read them carefully and follow them!To use your JP45 Tray safely:

  • Never stand under or walk under a JP45 Tray when the Lift is raised, whether there is a Vehicle on the Lift or not. Safety first: walk around!
  • Check daily to make sure all Slide Blocks are sitting correctly in the Utility Rail Channel.

DANGERIf you see any of the Slide Blocks out of the Utility Rail Channel or moving strangely, immediately move all persons away from the Lift and the JP45 Tray. When everyone is out of the way, carefully lower the Lift to the ground (if it is raised) and drive the Vehicle off (if there is a Vehicle on the Lift), as long as these things can be done safely. When the  Lift is fully lowered, put the Slide Blocks back into the Utility Rail Channel. Do not put the Slide Blocks back into the Utility Rail Channel from underneath.

  • After moving or using the JP45 Tray, make sure the Slide Blocks are sitting correctly in the Utility Rail Channel.⚠ WARNING Use care when using your JP45 Tray. If it falls when the Lift is raised, it can damage the JP45 Tray, the ground underneath, or cause significant injury to anyone underneath it. BendPak strongly recommends no one walk underneath the JP45 Tray when the Lift is raised.
  • Always keep the Utility Rail Channels clean. If there are liquid spills, wipe them up. If there is debris, clean it up. If anything other than the Slide Blocks are in the Utility  Rail Channels, move them.
  • Before lowering the Lift, check underneath it to make sure there are no obstructions under the JP45 Tray. If there is something under the Tray, move it out of the way.
  • Before driving a Vehicle onto the Lift, make sure there are no Bottle Jacks in the Tray. The Bottle Jacks could hit the underside of the Vehicle.
  • Only use the JP45 Tray near the front or rear of the Lift, never the center (where holding strength is less than on the ends). Refer to the Lift’s Manual for additional information.

Setup

The following procedure describes how to get your JP45 Tray up and running. To set up your JP45 Tray:

  1. Take the JP45 Tray out of the packing. The JP45 Tray comes assembled.
  2. Set the JP45 Tray between the Lift’s two Runways.BendPak recommends having two people work together to put the JP45 Tray into position.
  3. Loosen (but do not take out) the four Lock Screws (one on each Arm Tube). You will need a 4 mm hex wrench.
  4. Adjust the Extendable Arms so the Slide Blocks are sitting in the Utility Rail Channels.BendPak recommends keeping the JP45 Tray centered between the two Runways, as shown in the drawing on the next page. The following drawing is a side view that shows how the JP45 Tray and its Side Blocks should sit in the Channels of the Utility Rail of the Lift.
  5. Tighten the Lock Screws, then test the movement of the JP45 Tray by moving it back and forth. If there are movement issues, resolve them before putting the JP45 Tray into normal operation.
  6. Put your Bottle Jack(s) into place. If you are using one Bottle Jack centered in the JP45 Tray, it supports up to 3,500 lb / 1,588 kg.If you are using two Bottle Jacks, the JP45 Tray supports up to 2,250 lb / 1,021 kg each when the center of the two Bottle Jacks are at least 12 in / 305 mm apart from each other. If you run into issues with your JP45 Tray you cannot fix, visit bendpak.com/support, email [email protected], or call (800) 253-2363, extension 196.
