Safety Precautions

  • Before installing, performing maintenance, or service on the purifier, turn off the main power switch to the unit. Electrical shock can cause injury or death. There may be more than one disconnect switch.
  • The UV Lamp contains a small amount of mercury. If a lamp breaks, clean and dispose of it with care.
  • Never expose eyes directly to UV light.
  • Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service, maintenance, or use can cause fire, electrical shock, or other conditions which may cause personal injury or property damage. If you have questions or difficulty in installation, please consult with a  licensed electrician or contractor.
  • Follow all safety codes, wear safety glasses and work gloves. Read all instructions before installation and operation of the unit.
  • Do not touch the lamp glass without gloves; it may reduce the performance of the lamp. Clean the lamp after handling.

UV-C Lamp DisposalVisit www.Earth911.com for your local or state waste management program and information about where to dispose of the used  UV Lamp. Contact your local hardware or home improvement stores and other retailers who sell UV and fluorescent bulbs. Many stores allow customers to drop off used bulbs for recycling.If you cannot recycle, and it is acceptable with your local waste management agency, you may seal the bulb in a plastic bag and put it in the trash for collection.

Installation must be done by a certified HVAC technician and comply with all national and local electrical and mechanical codes.

Installation Instructions

Before installation turns off the HVAC system and ensures all electrical connections are off.

  1. Identify Suitable Location: Ensure the UV bulbs will not hit nor interfere with any types of equipment or ducting.
  2. Apply Installation Template.
  3. Use a drill or metal shear to cut openings for UV bulbs.**Avoid handling UV bulbs with bare hands
  4. Apply air seal strips, as needed, and secure BioShield device with sheet metal screws provided.
  5. Plug-in power cable to 110V outlet.
  6. Verify both LEFT & RIGHT LED indicator lights are on.

Replace V Bulb Annually

UV lamps should be replaced on an annual basis or when any of the LED Bulb indicator lights are not illuminated. While there  still may be blue light visible, the output of the UV light has decreased significantly (the UV-C wavelength is invisible).You can reorder UV bulbs on www.BioShieldUV.comLamp part number MAFA72BB
