IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should be observed, including the following:READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING YOUR STEAM SPONGE.

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury:
  • Do not direct steam at people, animals, or at electrical outlets
  • Do not expose to rain
  • Store indoors
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before conducting maintenance or troubleshooting
  • Do not leave steam cleaner unattended
  • Do not leave the steam cleaner connected to an electrical outlet when not in use
  • Do not attempt to use without water in the tank
  • Do not use with damaged cord or plug
  • Do not use steam cleaner if it has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water
  • Do not handle steam cleaner with wet hands
  • Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close door on cord, pull cord around sharp corners or edges, or expose cord to heated surfaces
  • Do not unplug by pulling on cord
  • Do not put any object into appliance openings, use with blocked opening, or restrict air flow
  • Do not use appliance in an enclosed space filled with vapor given off by oil base paint, paint thinner, some moth proofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors
  • Do not allow to be used as a toy
  • Do not use on leather, wax polished furniture or floors, synthetic fabrics, velvet or other delicate, steam-sensitive materials
  • Do not immerse
  • Not for space heating purposes
  • Do not service Steam Cleaner while it is plugged in
  • Avoid contact with hot surfaces
  • To avoid electric shock, do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces
  • Let cool for five minutes before storing
  • Do not use for any purpose other than described in this User’s Guide
  • Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments use of attachments not pro-vided or sold by BISSELL may cause fire, electric shock or injury
  • Fill with cool water only — do not add anything except cool water or you will cause damage to the heating element and void your warranty
  • Unplug by grasping the plug, not the cord
  • Pay close attention when working around children
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

Warning: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electrical shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you aren’t sure if the outlet is properly grounded. DO NOT MODIFY THE PLUG. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electri-cian. This appliance is designed for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit, and has a groundingattachment plug that looks like the plug in the drawing above. Make certain that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No plug adapter should be used with this appliance.. This model is for household use only.

CAUTION: Do not add anything except cool water or BISSELL approved fragrances or you will cause damage to the heating element and void your warranty.

Operation

Filling with water
  1. Remove tank by pulling up and away from unit.
  2. Unscrew cap at the bottom of the water tank and remove the inset.
  3. Fill tank with water.NOTE: Use of distilled or demineralized water is recommended. Especially if your tap water contains a high level of mineral content (hard water).
  4. Replace the insert assembly and tighten cap until snug.
  5. Replace water tank by lining up the vertical guides and gently sliding it back into place.

CAUTION: Always unplug your Steam Sponge before filling/refilling.

Power cord: Unwrap power cord before operating unit.

Indicator light: The blue indicator light will illuminate when the unit is plugged in.

Steam trigger: Pump to release steam.

NOTE: Continuous steam can be achieved by rhythmically pumping the trigger.

Tools and accessories

Bristle brush: For stubborn messes, attach bristle brush to the underside of the unit. Remove microfiber pad. A. Locate tab on the front of the bristle block and fit into the slot on the underside of the unit. B. Snap the back of the bristle block into place.Steam concentrator attachment: For steam cleaning hard-to-reach places, attach the steam connector by following the steps above (A. B.).

CAUTION:Before disconnecting a tool from the steam cleaner, make certain that steam is no longer coming from the nozzle. Use an oven mitt to remove tools, or wait until they cool before removing.

Steam cleaning all living areas
  1. Fill with cool tap water or distilled/demineralized water.
  2. Connect the plug to an appropriate outlet.
  3. The unit should be ready to use in 30 seconds or less. To sanitize an area (attack invisible germs and bacteria), place the Steam Sponge over the spot for a minimum of 15 seconds using continuous team, but no longer then 20 seconds using continuous steam. For larger areas, overlap Steam Sponge placement.

CAUTION: Keep face and all exposed skin away from steam. Failure to do so may result in personal injury.

Maintenance and care

When you are done
  1. Make sure unit is unplugged.
  2. Use caution, some steam may still come from the nozzle.
  3. Empty the water tank.
  4. Allow the bottom of the unit to cool before storing.
  5. The Microfiber pad may be machine washed in warm water with mild detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. For best results, air dry.

CAUTION: Thermal shock can shatter glass. Before cleaning cold glass surface, care-fully warm the surface by directing the steam jet on the glass from a distance of no less than 4 – 6”.

Troubleshooting

Reduced steam or no steam

Possible causes

  1. Water tank may be empty
  2. Siphon tube caught on air valve at the top of the water tank

Remedies

  1. Unplug, allow to cool for five minutes and refill with water
  2. Remove water tank and gently shake it until the siphon tube is freed.

Subject to the *EXCEPTIONS AND EXCLUSIONS identified below, upon receipt of the product BISSELL Homecare, Inc. will repair or replace (with new or remanufactured components or products), at BISSELL’s option, free of charge from the date of purchase by the original purchaser, for one year any defective or malfunctioning part.

This warranty applies to product used for personal, and not commercial or rental service. This warranty does not apply to fans or routine maintenance components such as pads. Damage or malfunction caused by negligence, abuse, neglect, unauthorized repair, or any other use not in accordance with the User’s Guide is not covered.
