Operating Instructions
WARNINGRisk of electric shock! The high-voltage battery is a high-voltage storage capacitor. The high voltage could cause serious personal injuries or severe damage to materials.
Observe and follow the risk classification of the high-voltage storage capacitor in the workshop manual.
Observe and follow the notes and work instructions in the workshop manual.
For qualified workshop personnel only.
Ensure that the complete module detacher and extension set is complete and inspect them for visible damages such as signs of wear, deformation, breaks, cracks, and corrosion before each use. Do not use the module detacher or extension set if damaged or in poor condition, but discard it immediately.
Perform the necessary preparatory work to use the module detacher in accordance with the workshop manuals of the Volkswagen Group brands.
Perform the steps described in sections “Attach the lifting clamp to the battery module“ and then “Using the support bar“. Perform the steps described in sections “Lifting the battery module by hand” or “Lifting the battery module with the workshop crane”.
Attach the lifting clamp to the battery module
1. Hook2. Bow-type handle9. Knurled-head screw M8 x 16, burnished, torque 5 Nm to 10 Nm10. Hook T40424/111. Hook T40424/214. Handle adapter T40424/415. Ball lock pin Ø 16 x 40 with tether
If necessary, remove the hook (10) from the lifting clamp and store it in a suitable location. Secure the hook (11) to the lifting clamp. Refer to the workshop manuals of the Volkswagen Group brands for information about which hook to use.
Attach the lifting clamp to the battery module. Ensure that the hook (1) and the hook (10) or (11) fit into the battery module correctly (see the workshop manuals of the Volkswagen Group brands).
Tighten the knurled-head screw (9) by hand (5 Nm to 10 Nm).
Using the support bar
3. Support4. Spindle, max. torque 7 Nm5. Locking lever, 2 pieces6. Locking lever, 2 pieces7. Disc of the Extension Set T40424/5, 2 pieces8. Base, 2 pieces12. Adapter T40424/3, 2 pieces13. Cylinder head screw DIN 912 M5 x 20 8.8, max. torque 2 Nm, 2 pieces per adapter15. Ball lock pin Ø 16 x 40 with tether16. Cylinder head screw DIN 912 M6 x 25 8.8, zinc coated, 2 pieces per base
If necessary, perform the preparatory work on the basis (8). The discs and adapters adjust the height of the bases. Refer to the workshop manuals of the Volkswagen Group brands for information about whether to use the discs and/or adapters for the bases.Attach the discs (7) to the support bar if necessary. Loosen the cylinder head screws (16). Remove the bases (8) from the support bar.Position both discs (7) and both bases (8) on the support bar (see Figure 3).Secure the discs (7) and bases (8) to the support bar with the cylinder head screws (16). Tighten the cylinder head screws (16) with a torque of 5 Nm.If necessary, attach the adapters to the bases.Attach the adapters (12) to the support bar if necessary.Secure both adapters (12) to the bases (8) with the cylinder head screws (13). Tighten the cylinder head screws (13) with a torque of no more than 2 Nm.
