This guide will help you access and use the Cox Business UC App for Android Mobile. It includes instructions on how to download, sign on, set up and utilize the most common features and functionalities.
OverviewThe Cox Business UC Apps gives you in-office connectivity while working from home or traveling. There are six types of UC Apps for smartphones, tablets and desktop computers. You can make click-to-dial calls, start an instant messaging session, view a contact’s availability, make a conference call and manage your calls.
Note: To use the Unified Communications features with your IP Centrex Professional Seat, you must first activate UC through the My Account Portal. Refer to the UC Mobile App for Android User Guide for detailed instructions.
Downloading the Application
1 From the Google Play\’”store, search for the Cox Business UC app.
2 Tap the Accept button and then the Install button.
3Tap the I agree box on the End User License Agreement
4 Tap the Agree and continue button.
Signing In
1Open the application on your phone.
2Enter your MyAccount user name and password. Optional: Tap the Show password box to display the password as you type.Optional: Tap the Remember password box to bypass having to enter it during subsequent launches of the app.
3Tap the Sign in button.
Note: The UC App for Android Mobile does not support having two mobile phones active at the same time if they are using the same telephone number.
Resetting Your Password
1 Go to www.myaccount.coxbusiness.com.2 Click the Forgot Password link.3 Enter your email address. O Click the Reset Password button.
Adding a Contact
1 From the main window, tap the plus (+) symbol to display a dropdown menu.2 Tap the Add Contact option.
3 In the Add Contact dialog box, enter the contact’s information, and tap the OK button.
Adding a Directory Contact
1 From the main window, tap the down arrow to the right of the Unify label. A menu of filtering options displays.2 Tap the Directory icon .3 If the Directory field is empty, tap the search icon and enter the first three characters of the person’s first or last name. You can enter an asterisk (*) symbol to view the entire directory.4 Tap the name of the contact you want to add to your Contacts list.5 Tap the plus (+) symbol to the right of Add to Contacts.
Making a Call
Use any of the options below to place a call.
Tap a contact from the Contacts list to open their contact information card, and then tap the headset icon ( ) to place the call.
Press and hold on a contact name to display a menu of options, and then tap Voice Call.
On the Call History list, tap the headset icon ().
Open the dial pad, enter a phone number and tap the call icon.
On the Chat screen, tap the headset icon ( ). to make an audio call
Note: If callers cannot hear when using the app, verify that the app has permission to use the microphone.
From your Android phone, go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager > Unify > Permissions.
Conferencing a Call
Use the steps below to start a conference call.
Choose any option in the Making a Call section to place a call.
When the call becomes active, tap the menu icon in the lower TO right corner of the Communication window to open a submenu.
Tap the Conference option from the submenu. Result: The Contact list appears.
Select a contact in your Contact list or tap the dial pad icon to open the dial pad and dial the phone number directly.
When the call becomes conferenced, the screen changes to display the names of the participants on the call and additional calling options. Tap the Add participant button to add another participant and then repeat step 4 above.
You may add up to 14 other participants for a total of 15, including yourself.
Transferring a Call
The Unify app supports transferring data connection calls to another party. There are two ways to transfer a call:
Attended (Warm) Transfer: Announce the caller to the intended recipient before you complete the transfer.
Unattended (Blind) Transfer: Transfer the caller without an announcement.
Establish a call with a remote party and press Transfer.
From your Contacts list, select the party you wish to transfer to and select the number you wish to call.Note: You can also use the keypad to dial another number that is not in your Contacts list.
ap the Call First link for an attended transfer or tap the Transfer link for an unattended transfer.
Setting Up Voice Mail
From your desk phone or Unify app, dial your business number or *86.
Enter the temporary PIN, “269266” and press #.
Select your default language.
Set a new PIN (4-8 digits) for your account and press #.
Record your name.
Record a greeting or select the default system greeting.
Checking Voice MailFrom your desk phone or Unify app, dial your business number, enter your PIN, and press #.Refer to the Voice Mail User Guide for more information.
Configuring AnywhereThe Anywhere feature enables your mobile phone number to be integrated with your seat for inbound and outbound calls. Callers can dial one number to reach you on any phone you choose: a desk phone, cell phone, your UC apps.
Note: When the Unify app is active and the Anywhere feature is turned off, you will receive calls over your data connection. When the Unify app is not active, you will receive incoming calls over your cellular network.If you do not want to receive calls while you are signed out of the Unify app. do not turn the Anywhere feature on. Whenever you sign back in to Unify, it will automatically disable the Anywhere feature for that location so that you can receive calls via data instead of cellular.
If you want to enable Call Through capabilities, you must configure an Anywhere location for your mobile number.
Tap the menu icon in the upper left corner of the main screen.
Tap the Call Settings link.
Tap the Anywhere link.
Tap the plus(+} icon to add your mobile phone as a location.
Tap Telephone number and enter the mobile phone number of your Android phone you with to use.
Tap Description to enter a description.
Tap the remaining fields to establish the settings as you wish; and then tap the Add button. The locations will display on the Anywhere page.
Tap the Alert All Locations checkbox to enable the feature.
Starting a Chat SessionUse any of the options below to begin a chat session.
Tap a contact in the Contacts list and press the Chat icon .
From the Call History list, tap a contact and press the Send Personal SMS icon .
From the Chat History list, tap a contact entry.
From the search results, tap a contact to open their contact card and then tap the Chat icon.
Signing Out
From the main communications window, tap the menu icon in the top left corner and then tap Sign out.
Other Call Management Features
Unify for Android gives you many features that help manage your calls. Some of the more commonly used are described below. For additional details, click the link to see the Unify Mobile App for Android User Guide.
Call ForwardingUse the Call Forwarding feature to redirect incoming calls based on your availability or location. The Call Forward Always setting reroutes all incoming calls to another number that you select.
Call Forward Busy is useful for when you do not want to be interrupted. Enter the phone number of where you want the calls to be routed, such as your voice mail.
Call Forwarding No Answer redirects your incoming calls when you are unable to answer the phone within a predetermined number of rings. Call Forwarding Not Reachable redirects all your incoming calls to another number that you define when the phone system is not operational (e.g., due to a power outage, cable cut or device connection issue).
Do Not DisturbThe Do Not Disturb feature allows you to set your station as unavailable so that incoming calls receive a busy response or go to your voice mail, if equipped.
Call ParkCall Park is particularly suited for shared environments where one person can answer the call, park it, do something else for a while and continue the call from another device or let somebody else continue the call.
Call PullCall Pull allows you to retrieve an ongoing call from one of your devices to another one where the Call Pull feature is used.
Remote OfficeThis feature allows any phone, such as one in a hotel while you’re away on business, to act as your office phone from a charging and numbering perspective.
PresenceThe Presence feature alerts users of your availability. Green means you are available to chat. Yellow means that you are online, but are idle or have been away from your computer for 10 minutes. Red means that you are unavailable/busy. Gray means you are offline.
The Unify app for Android can automatically update your presence to the following statuses: Busy In Call, Busy In Meeting, Available (desk phone), Available (mobile).
