Safety Instructions

Read and understand this entire manual before using this product. Keep these instructions for future reference.

  1. Do not use this product near water.
  2. This product should be operated only by the type of power source indicated on the marking label or in this instruction manual.
  3. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one blade wider than the other. This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fails to fit, contact your electrician.
  4. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the product.
  5. Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
  6. Never push objects of any kind into this product through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.
  7. Do not attempt to service this product yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

Initial Setup

Essential Setup

  1. Place the unit on a flat and level surface. The selected location should be stable and free from vibration.
  2. Remove the tie-wrap that is holding the tonearm.
  3. Rotate the Turntable Suspension Screw clockwise until it is all the way down. This allows the turntable to float on its shock absorbers.Note: Before turning the power on, make sure again all the connection settings are correct.

Stereo System Connection

RCA Jacks

  • The RCA Jacks output analog line-level signals and could be connected directly with a pair of active/powered speakers or the appropriate input of your stereo system.
  •  The Red plug connects with the Right channel and the White plug connects with the Left channel.

Note: The RCA Jacks are not designed to be connected directly to the passive/unpowered speakers. If connected to the passive speakers, the volume level will be very low.

Aux Input Connection

You can connect any audio device to this unit and play your music through its speakers. To do this, press the AUX button to set the unit to Aux-In mode, connect the 3.5mm auxiliary cable between your audio device and the Aux-In Jack of this unit, and start playing.

Bluetooth Operation

  1. Press the Bluetooth button to switch to Bluetooth mode, you will hear an activation sound from the unit.
  2. Turn on the Bluetooth feature of your audio device, search for “Crosley CR2405D” and pair.
  3. Once your device is successfully paired with the unit, you will hear a short confirmation sound from the unit.
  4. Play and stream music from your device to the unit.

Note: Bluetooth Version – 2.1

Turntable Operation

  1. Press the Power Button to turn on the power.
  2. Press the Phono Button to set the unit to Phono mode.
  3. Set the Speed Switch accordingly.
  4. Place the record on the turntable. Use the 45 RPM Adapter if necessary.
  5.  Remove the stylus protector from the stylus assembly.Note: To avoid stylus damage, make certain the included stylus guard is in place whenever the turntable is being moved or cleaned.
  6.  Release the tonearm Hold Down Clip.Note: when the turntable is not in use, remember to lock back the hold-down clip.
  7. Use the Tonearm Lever to lift up the tonearm.
  8. Gently move the tonearm over the record where play is desired to begin. Set the Tonearm Lever back to the down position, the tonearm will descend slowly onto the record and begin to playback.
  9. When the record is finished playing, the tonearm will automatically return to its rest. Or to suspend the playback, use the Tonearm Lever again to raise the tonearm and return it to the Tonearm Rest. Release the lever to lower the tonearm back to its rest.
  10. Lock the Hold Down Clip to secure the tonearm.

Needle Replacement

Removing Needle

  1. Gently pull down the front edge of the needle.
  2. Pull needle forward.
  3.  Pull out and remove.

Installing Needle

  1. Position the needle with its tip facing down.
  2. Line up the back of the needle with the cartridge.
  3. Insert the needle with its front end at a downward angle and gently lift the front of the needle upward until it snaps into place.

CD Playback Operation

  1. Press the CD button to set the unit to CD mode.
  2. Press the Eject button to open the CD tray and put the CD in the tray with the labeled side facing up.
  3. Press the Eject button again to close the tray. The LCD display will show “BUSY” for a few seconds, then the total number of tracks on the CD. If it is a blank CD or an unrecognizable CD, it will show “NO DISC”.Note: MP3 or similar types of digital audio files can not be read by the CD player.
  4. Press the Play/Pause button to start the playback.
  5. During the playback, press the Play/Pause button to pause. Press it again to resume playback.
  6. To skip to the next or previous track, press the Forward Skip or Backward Skip button correspondingly.
  7. To search fast forward or backward a track, press and hold the Forward Skip or Backward Skip button correspondingly until you reach the desired time. Release the button and the playback will resume.
  8. To repeat the whole CD, Press the Repeat button once and the LCD display will show “REPEAT ALL”. To repeat a specific song, press the Repeat button twice while that track is playing and the display will show “REPEAT 1. To cancel the repeat function, press the Repeat button until the word Repeat disappears from the display.
  9. Press the Stop button if you want to completely stop playback.

Programmed Playback

  1. Before starting the playback, press the Program button once to enter program mode. The LCD display will show “PROGRAM” and “001 P-01”.
  2. Press the Forward Skip or Backward Skip buttons to select the track that you would like to play.
  3. Press the Program button to confirm the selected track.
  4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for additional soundtracks that you would like to play. The tracks can be in any number and repeated. A maximum of 20 tracks can be programmed at one time.
  5. Press the Play/Pause button to start the programmed playback. The tracks will play in the same sequence that you programmed earlier.
  6. To exit the program mode, press the Stop

CD Recording Operation

This unit is designed to able to record your vinyl or cassettes onto CDs which could be CD-R or CD-RW. Wrong types of CD used with recording might not work properly.

Recording Vinyl to CD

  1. Press the Phono button to select Phono mode.
  2. Load a compatible blank disc into the CD tray.
  3. Press the CD Record button to start the recording mode. “REC” and II symbol will show on the top left corner of the LCD display.
  4. Press the Play/Pause button to begin the recording where you would like to The II symbol will change too ► , indicating the unit is recording.
  5. Start playing the vinyl record as you normally do.
  6. Optional: To adjust the recording gain level, press the REC LEVEL + or—buttons on the remote control. To achieve maximum gain without sound distortion, keep the bars as close as possible to the edge of the LCD display but never go over it.
  7. When the first side of the record is finished, press the Pause A new track is created for the next recording.
  8. Flip the record over and repeat steps 3-5 to record the new side.
  9. If more records need to be recorded on the same disc, press the Pause button again once the new side is finished recording. Replace the current record with a new one and restart the process as above.Note: A blank CD is able to record up to 80min of music.
  10. After all the recording is finished, press the Stop button to stop the whole recording process.
  11. Press the CD button to select CD mode.
  12. Press the Finalize button and the LCD display will show “FIN-D”.
  13. Press the Play/Pause button to begin finalizing the disc. The LCD display will show “BUSY” while the disc is being finalized.
  14. Once the CD has been finalized, the CD tray will open automatically. The disc is now ready for use.

Note:

  • if the disc is not finalized, it might not play on other CD players.
  • Not all CD players am compatible with CD-R and CD-RW. Please check the user manual of the other CD player for compatibility.
  • Once the disc is finalized, no more new content could be added to the disc.
  • If CD-RW was used, it could be erased completely and reused for recording again.

Track Division

The instructions above will record all the music as one single track by default. In order to see separate tracks with their own track numbers, you will need to split the tracks before the recording process is finished by using one of the two methods below:

Manual Track Split (recommended)When recording, pay attention to the end of each song. Usually, there is a brief silence between songs, when this happens, press the MANUAL button once. The recorded music will be split into its own soundtrack and a new soundtrack is created for the rest of the music. This is the recommended way of splitting soundtracks for the highest split accuracy.Auto Track SplitBefore pressing the CD Record button in step 3 from the above section, press the AUTO button on either the front panel or the remote control. The display will toggle the decibel level (-20, -30, and -40) which is required to split the soundtracks. For example, if -40 is selected, new tracks will be created automatically whenever the recording level falls below -40db for 2 seconds or more.Depending on the specific music that you are playing and the decibel level selected, this split method might not be as accurate. This is because some music might be playing at a volume lower than the decibel level selected for over 2 seconds or the silence period between sounds is still too high or shorter than 2 seconds. In these cases, new tracks would be created incorrectly.However, you could still manually split a track under the auto-track split mode.

Recording Cassettes to a Disc

  1. Press the TAPE button to switch to Cassette mode.
  2. Load a compatible blank disc into the CD tray.
  3.  Press the CD Record button to start the recording mode. “REC” and symbol will show on the top left corner of the LCD display.
  4. Insert the prerecorded cassette tape into the cassette slot.
  5. Start the recording process by following the instructions 5-14 as mentioned in the vinyl recording section.

Erase the Rewritable DiscThe CD-RW could be erased and recorded if the last recording is not satisfying:

  1. Press the CD button to select CD mode.
  2. Load the CD-RW which needs to be erased into the tray.
  3. If the disc is finalized, it needs to be un-finalized first. Press the Erase button, “UNFIN-D” will show on the LCD display. Press the Play/Pause button to confirm the un-finalization process.
  4.  Press the Erase button again, the LCD display will show “ER” and the last track number recorded on the disc. Press the Play/Pause button at this time will erase the last recorded track.
  5. To erase the whole disc, press the Erase button again before pressing Play/Pause button. This display will show “ER ALL”.
  6. Press the Play/Pause button to confirm your selection, the erase process will start and the display will show “BUSY”.
  7. When finished, the display will show “00”. The disc is now ready to record again.

Radio Operation

  1. Press the Band Button to set the unit to radio mode.
  2.  Press the Band Button again to select between AM and FM.
  3. Rotate the Tuning Knob for the desired radio station.

Note:

  • The unit is equipped with an FM wire antenna. To FM improve reception, move the wire around until the reception is clear without interferences. Do not connect the wire to any additional antenna.
  •  The AM antenna is built inside the unit. If AM reception is poor, try to rotate the unit for better reception.

Cassette Operation

  1.  Press the Tape button to set the unit to Cassette mode.
  2. Insert the prerecorded cassette through the cassette door and it will start playing automatically.
  3. To fast forward, press the cassette Eject/F.F button halfway in. To stop fast forwarding and return to the playback mode, press the button again.Note: To rewind the cassette, you would need to reject the tape and flip it over for the other side and fast forward.
  4. To stop the playback and eject the cassette, press the Eject/F.F. button all the way in.
  5.  When one side of the cassette finishes playing, it will stop automatically.Note: Remove the cassette from the cassette holder when it is not in use.

Turntable Maintenance

  1. Do not touch the stylus tip with your fingers. Avoid bumping the stylus on the turntable mat or a record’s edge.
  2. Clean the stylus frequently with a soft brush with a back-to-front motion only.
  3. Clean the records to get rid of dust or grease with a record cleaning brush and record cleaning solution.
  4. Clean the turntable lid and turntable cabinet with a slightly damped microfiber cloth.Note: Do not use cleanser other that contains alcohol, benzene or any other harsh chemicals, which might damage the paint and finish of the turntable.

Troubleshooting

There is no power

  • No power at the power outlet.
  • To help save power consumption, some models will comply with ERP energy-saving standards. When there is no audio input for 20 minutes, their powers will automatically cut off. To turn the power back on and resume playing, turn off the power and turn it on again.

Power is on, but the platter does not turn

  • Turntable mode is not selected.
  • Turntable’s drive belt has slipped off.

The turntable is spinning, but there is no sound, or sound not loud enough

  • The stylus protector is still on.
  • The tonearm is lifted up by the lever.
  • The headphone is plugged in.
  • The input gain of the amplified speaker or similar device may be too low.

CD does not play

  • Function mode is not set to CD.
  • The CD is blank.
  • The CD is placed on the tray incorrectly with the label side facing down.
  •  The CD has unsupported digital audio files like MP3 and similar types of format.
  • The CD has too many scratches or is dirty.

CD recording does not work

  • The wrong type of discs was used instead of CD-R.
  • The CD is full or set as to be not to be re-written.

Can not pause the cassette

  • The feature is not available and you have to stop the cassette completely.
