DJO Impact Guard Knee and Shin Protector Instructions

BEFORE USING THE DEVICE, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY AND CAREFULLY. CORRECT APPLICATION IS VITAL TO THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE DEVICE.

INTENDED USER PROFILE:

The intended user should be a licensed medical professional, the patient, the patient’s caretaker, or a family member providing assistance. The user should be able to: Read, understand and be physically capable to perform all the directions, warnings and cautions provided in the information for use.

INTENDED USE/INDICATIONS:

The DonJoy Impact Guard is designed to be used with the Defiance®, Armor Action, Legend™, Fource 5, and ATITUDE™ knee braces to provide support and protection to the knee and shin. Providing mild protection of a limb or body segment for acute and prophylactic care.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

None.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:

It is recommended to have the device fitted by a suitably qualified healthcare professional. If you develop an allergic reaction and/or experience itchy, red skin after coming into contact with any part of this device, please stop using it and contact your healthcare professional immediately. If pain, swelling, changes in sensation or other unusual reactions occur while using this product, you should contact your doctor immediately. Do not use over open wounds. Do not use this device if it was damaged and/or packaging has been opened.NOTE: Contact manufacturer and competent authority in case of a serious incident arising due to usage of this device.

APPLICATION INFORMATION:

  1.  PARTS: Impact Guard, 2 washers, 2 phillips-head screws, 2 Double sided hook patchs. See Figure 1.
  2.  Remove medial and lateral condyle pads from brace. See Figure 2.
  3. For standard hinges: Slide Impact Guard over the plastic condyle shell (from back of the brace toward the front) where the condyle pad was removed. See figure 3.
  4.  For LoPro Fourcepoint hinges: Place washers and screws on the soft side of the inner flap. The screw should go through the soft-side first and the plastic piece second. Be sure to align the holes from the flap on to the threaded holes of the hinge. See figure 4A.Then screw in the screws to the threaded holes. See figure 4B.
  5. Wrap outer flap around the outside of the hinge and secure to the inner flap. See figure 5.
  6.  If necessary reapply both condyle pads using double sided hook patch to secure condyle pads to the Impact Guard as shown in Figure 6. Note: Various thicknesses of condyle pads can be used to improve comfort and fit.
  7. To secure shin guard to leg, place the included hook & loop tab on guard and attach elastic strap. Impact guard completely assembled. See Figure 7 Note: If shin guard is not desired, it can be removed by cutting the foam underneath the knee guard.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS:

Hand wash in cold water using mild soap, rinse thoroughly. AIR DRY.Note: If not rinsed thoroughly, residual soap may cause skin irritation and deteriorate material.

WARRANTY: DJO, LLC will repair or replace all or part of the unit and its accessories for material or workmanship defects for a period of six months from the date of sale. To the extent the terms of this warranty are inconsistent with local regulations, the provisions of such local regulations will apply.
