PRODUCT-SPECIFIC INFORMATION, FIGURE CAPTIONS

Adapting

To ensure protection, this helmet must be adapted to the head size of the user. The helmet must be adapted to the head such that it is not possible to shift it or for it to slide off the user‘s head while the chin belt is closed; only then will the helmet offer full protection. Safe seating on the head is guaranteed only if the chin belt is closed, the straps are tightened, and if the helmet has been adapted properly to the user‘s head size. The straps must not run across the user‘s ears and thebuckle must not contact the chin. When the chin belt is closed, it should not exert any pressure on the voice box. The helmet should be seated in a horizontal position on the head at all times, ensuring the protection of the forehead.

MADILLO

Completely unfold the helmet before use (Fig. 9 – 12).1.) Unfold the rear shell completely,2.) Pull out the side shells until this click audibly into the hooks on the rear shell. While unfolding the side shells, push the shell backward applying light pressure. The helmet is thereby set to the maximum head size.Attention: Do not use the helmet with the side shells pushed in! To adapt the helmet to the user‘s head size, put the helmet on and slide the side shells into the rear shell (Fig. 10). To increase the helmet‘s circumference, lift the adjusting clip A a little and pull trear shell to a larger position (Fig. 11). The belt adjusting braces on the side of the chin belt allow adapting the position of the belt to the individual head shape.Transport version: The helmet may be folded up for transport (Fig. 12).1.) Lift the adjusting clip A a little and pull the rear shell backward to the largest position,2.) Lift the adjusting clip A a little and push the side shells in completely, fold down the rear shell.

ULTRALIGHT III, ULTRALIGHT-JUNIOR III

Before use, ensure that the fastening system is correctly fastened to all 6 clips.Adapt the helmet to the head size using the neck strap. To achieve that open the locking buckle, adjust the size, and then close the buckle (Fig. 13a,b). Adjust the position of the straps relative to the ears with the strap diverters on the sides (Fig. 13c), close the helmet fastening with the buckle. To clean or replace the padding, the entire fastening system may be removed from the helmet. To achieve that, detach all locks on the inside of the helmet from the headlamp clips (Fig. 14). Then remove the padding as shown in Fig. 15. We recommend proceeding in the sequence shown (note arrows in Fig. 15b).On the rear and sides of the helmet, vacant surfaces allow individual marking of the helmet with a pen or sticker (Fig. 16).

SHIELD II, ZODIAC

Adapting the helmet to the head size: A turn lock is located on the neck end of the helmet. Turning it left opens the headband. Turning it right or clockwise reduces the head size continuously (Fig. 2). The belt adjusting braces on the side of the chin belt allow adapting the position of the chin belt to the individual head shape. Opening the buckle (Fig. 3).

SHIELD LITE, ZODIAC LITE

Adapting to the head size (Fig. 4 – 5). Opening the buckle (Fig. 3).Adapting the chin belt around the ears on SHIELD II and SHIELD LITE: The helmet is supplied with the longest possible adjustment of the chin belt. To shorten the chin belt, pull the rear headlamp hooks from their braces (Fig. 6). Untie the hook from the strap and re-attach it to one of the three eyes on the strap (Fig. 7), thereby setting the best possible location of the chin belt, especially around the ears. Once you have adjusted the correct length, feed the strap back through the opening into the helmet‘s shell. Pulling on the strap will re-attach the headlamp hook to the outside of the helmet (Fig. 8).

SALATHEAdapting to the head size (Fig. 1).

SERVICE LIFE AND REPLACEMENT

The service life of the product mainly depends on the type and frequency of use as well as on external influences. When approaching the durability limits or atthe end of the maximum service life indicated the product must be removed from use. Maximum service life With optimum storage conditions (see Storage) andwithout use: 12 years

Maximum usefulWith optimum storage conditions (see Storage) and without use: 12 yearsMaximum useful life (commercial/non-commercial use)Providing proper use and no detectable sign of wear showing as well as under optimum storage conditions: 10 years.Frequent or extreme useIn case of extreme application conditions with frequent shock load by a rock or ice fall, many scratches and scars showing on the product, the safety reserves may already be depleted after a short time to an extent that requires replacing the product. The helmet is to compensate for the impact energy by partial destruction or by damage to the helmet’s shell and interior furnishing. After a strong shock load (impact, rock, or ice fall) the helmet must be replaced even if the damage cannot be detected directly. The same applies to deep scars or contact with chemicals (Attention: battery acid!) or clearly visible decoloration from exposure to UV light. Repairs must be performed exclusively by the manufacturer or a service partner authorized by the manufacturer.INSPECTION In case of commercial use, the product must be inspected regularly or at least once a year by the manufacturer, a qualified person, or an approved inspection body/agency; thereafter it may have to be serviced or removed from use. Among other inspections, the readability of the product labeling should be checked. When the service life mentioned above is exceeded, the product must be removed from further use.
