Description

This Esky solar hand crank radio is a compact multifunctional device that gives access to FM/AM/WB radio, weather information, and an illumination whenever and wherever you need it. Recharged by Micro USB cable, solar, and manual hand cranking, the radio provides informative listening enjoyment as well as emergency lighting in your daily life.

Radio Operation

  1. Flashlight Button: turn on/off the flashlight
  2. Band Selector: switch among FM, AM, and WB
  3. Tuning Dial: rotate it to select channels
  4. ON/OFF Vol+ or – Dial: turn on/off the radio; increase/decrease the volume

Charging Instruction

A. Recharged by Micro USB Cable

  1. It’s the most effective, recommended way to charge the radio. Please insert one end of the provided charging cable into its Micro USB port and the other end to the USB outlet of your computer or a SV power adapter.
  2. The red indicator will flash in charging process, and will change to sturdily on after being fully charged within 2 to 3 hours. After being fully charged, the radio can broadcast for continuous 5 hours with the maximum volume or illuminate for continuous 10-12 hours with only flashlight functioning.
  3. Please fully charge the radio after receiving the parcel.

B. Recharged by Hand Cranking
  1. Wind the hand crank either in the direction of clockwise or counterclockwise for 3-5 minutes to activate the internal battery for the first time.
  2. To fully charge the radio, you can lift and wind the hand crank clockwise or counterclockwise for continuous 2 to 2.5 hours at a speed of 130rmp/min. The red indicator glows in the whole charging process.
  3. Every one minute of continuous hand cranking can illuminate no less than 20 minutes or broadcast for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Due to the laborious, long-time operation, hand cranking often works as an emergent way to charge the radio in outdoor conditions without power outlets.

C. Recharged by Solar Power
  1. To charge the radio, please expose it to direct sunlight. The red indicator glows in the whole charging process.
  2. Because the output current of solar panel is relatively small, it is difficult to fully charge the radio. Hence it is mainly used to maintain the radio battery or refill a small amount of energy for the device.

Notes:

  1. There are 3 ways to charge the radio. No matter which way you choose from, do not let the radio work during the charging process because this way will shorten the device’s battery life. Please charge the radio in the off state.
  2. The device may excessively discharge or even cause failed battery when the battery is low. Therefore, please charge the radio with provided Micro USB cable if the device works for over 3 hours to avoid over discharge and ensure enough battery for the next use.
  3. If the radio won’t be used for a long time, please spend 2 hours per month to fully charge the radio.
  4. Wind the hand crank for 3-5 minutes before each use to activate and keepthe internal battery healthy

Operation Instruction

  1. Turn the ON/OFF Vol+ or – Dial clockwise to power on the radio and set a proper volume level.
  2. Switch to WB, FM or AM with the band selector. Extend the antenna for a better signal reception
  3. Turn tuning dial to select your desired station, and a yellow tune indicator will turn on when the selected station is fully engaged.
  4. When turning the tuning dial, it is normal to find the dial is slightly tight. This design can reduce the frequency deviation generated during a single rotation, preventing the inability to catch radio stations within small frequency sections.
  5. if the radio can receive a few stations or noisy stations, this is usually caused by the interference of radio wave signals. Please operate it in an open, flat place or a high position.

Charge External Devices

  1. Insert one end of charging cable to the USB port of radio and the other end to your device, then the radio will automatically start to charge your device.
  2. The output voltage is 5.1V. Please make sure your device supports 5.1 V charging voltage before operation.
  3. The maximum output current of radio is S00mA. Hence, it will be very slow to charge an external device (e.g. a mobile phone). The battery capacity of radio is 1 000mAh (less than the battery of your phone), so it’s difficult to fully charge your phone or it will stop charging because of exhausted battery. You can only expect the radio to work as an emergency power bank to guarantee a smooth emergent conversation.
  4. The provided charging cable is only for charging Micro USB devices. As for other devices, please use their original charging cables to charge them.
  5. If the radio can not charge your phone, check whether the cable is damaged or the radio battery is low. Please try again with another charging cable or after fully charging the radio.

Care and Maintenance

  1. Wipe clean the surface of radio with a soft and damp cloth.
  2. Do not clean it with any harsh abrasive solvent.
  3. Although it is water-resistant, do not submerge it in water or use it in the rain.
  4. Do not charge the radio in your car in high temperature days as it may shorten its lifespan
