Curing Tank Heater HM-651

INTRODUCTION

The HM-651 Curing Tank Heater is designed to maintain temperatures in water tanks up to 350gal (1,325L) for proper curing of concrete specimens. The Heater maintains the required concrete curing temperature of 73.4°F ±3°F (23°C ±1.7°C) when ambient temperature is between 53°–72°F (12° to 22°C). Additional heaters may be needed based on the size of tank, specimen loading, and ambient air temperature. One heater is recommended per 200 gallons of water. Use for any other application or failure to maintain the unit as noted will void the warranty.

WARNING!RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! To avoid possible in- jury, please read and understand these instructions thoroughly before using the Curing Tank Heater.

SET-UP

  1. Mount the heater to the tank securely so that it cannot be knocked loose and fall into the tank.
  2. The heating coil must be immersed in water to a depth of no less than 12in (305mm) at all times.

WARNING!Connect the Tank Heater ONLY to a Ground Fault Protected Circuit (GFCI) with a minimum of 15 amps.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Turn the power switch on. The red run light should illuminate.
  2. Adjust the controller to maintain the desired temperature. This may require experimentation to establish the correct setting.

CleaningThe HM-651 Curing Tank Heater will last for many years if properly installed and maintained. Lime/mineral scale will eventually build up on the heating element, greatly affecting performance and efficiency. Periodic cleaning is required.

  1. Turn the unit off, unplug from the power source, and remove from the water tank.WARNING!RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Turn the heater off, unplug from power source, and remove from the water tank before performing any maintenance.
  2. Use a calcium/lime cleaner to remove residue from the heating element then rinse the element thoroughly with clean water. Make sure to rinse only the heating element. Do not allow water to penetrate the control unit.
  3. Dry thoroughly and store the unit in a clean, dry location when not in use.

TroubleshootingIf the unit fails to operate, unplug it from the power source, and remove it from the tank. Check the fuse and replace if necessary with an identical 15amp fuse.
