OVERVIEW

  • The Hawke Nite-Eye 2000 digital camera can be used for observation and photo/video capture in complete darkness or low light conditions.
  • View up to 200 meters in complete darkness using digital night vision technology.
  • A built-in infrared illuminator provides additional light when in darker conditions. The infrared strength can be adjusted to suit your situation.
  • Quick and easy transfer of photos/videos and battery recharge via USB.
  • Rechargeable 18650 lithium battery for extended performance and runtime.

BATTERY INSTALLATION

Unscrew the battery cover located underneath the front lens. Insert a 18650 battery, negative end first, then screw the battery cover back in place.

Notes:

  • Only use 3.7V 18650 rechargeable batteries.
  • Ensure the battery has sufficient charge.
  • Ensure battery has been inserted negative end first.
  • Ensure the battery is charged before first use to increase life expectancy

RECHARGING

The Nite-Eye 2000 is powered by a 18650 lithium battery. The battery can either be recharged in the Nite-Eye 2000 unit, or separately if using a battery charger (not supplied).

  • To charge the battery while installed in the camera, connect the power adaptor to the USB cable and insert this into the mini-USB socket on the Nite-Eye 2000, located on the underside of the unit, beneath the rubber flap.
  • The LED charging indicator next to the mini-USB socket will glow red while the battery is charging and turn off when it is fully charged.
  • When recharging from mains power supply the Nite-Eye 2000 will automatically power on. If not needed, the camera can be powered off by pressing and holding the “ON/OK” button for 3 seconds.
  • The Nite-Eye 2000 can also be charged by connecting directly to a computer via USB. In this mode data transfer will also be available.

MEMORY CARD INSTALLATION

  • The Nite-Eye 2000 accepts micro SD memory cards only.
  • Memory card capacity between 2GB-32GB only.
  • Install the micro SD memory card into the memory card socket located on the underside of the unit, beneath the rubber flap.
  • Install micro SD memory card with exposed contacts first and facing outwards.

POWER ON

Hold the “ON/OK” power button for 3 seconds to power on. Look through the eye cup, it is ready for use when the screen has lit up and the icons are displayed.

Notes:

  • If the screen does not power on after holding the power button for 3 seconds, ensure the battery is charged.
  • The Nite-Eye 2000 will always power on in Photo capture mode.

POWER OFF

In Photo/Video mode, press and hold the “ON/OK” power button for 3 seconds to power off.

SCREEN FOCUS

The Nite-Eye 2000 has an ocular lens adjustment that controls the focus of the screen and icons.

  • To correct the focus of the screen for your eyesight, simply grip and rotate the eyepiece to adjust.
  • For first time use the eyepiece will need to be rotated anti-clockwise for first adjustment.

DISPLAY ICONS

  • Battery charge indicator (bottom left)
  • IR Lamp brightness (top left – under Photo/Video mode icon)
  • Photo/Video/Playback mode icon (top left)
  • Micro SD memory card capacity remaining (top right)

IMAGE FOCUS

  • Remove the front objective lens cover and look through the eye cup at the screen.
  • Image focus is manual and not automatic.
  • To adjust image focus rotate the objective lens (located at the front of the unit) until the desired viewing image is sharp.
  • The image focus will need to be adjusted when viewing different distances.

MAGNIFICATION

The Nite-Eye 2000 has a built in 5× magnification into its optical lenses. A further 5× magnification can be achieved using the digital zoom. The digital zoom is operated by pressing the left and right arrow buttons while in Photo/Video mode.

PHOTO MODE

  • When the camera is powered on it will enter photo mode. In this mode you can take still images of your environment.
  • If the monocular is not in photo mode, press the “M” button to cycle through the available modes until you see the photo mode symbol (camera icon) in the top left corner.
  • Press the “ON/OK” button to capture a still image.
  • The photo will automatically save to the memory card.

VIDEO MODE

  • Press the “M” button to cycle through the available modes until you see the video mode symbol (video camera icon) in the top left corner.
  • Press the “ON/OK” button to start recording a video. To end a recording, press the “ON/OK” button again.
  • During video capture the video time length will show in red in the top right corner of the display screen.
  • The video will automatically save to the memory card. Video size is based on video length.
  • Videos are recorded and saved in 10 minute intervals.

PLAYBACK MODE

  • Press the “M” button to cycle through the available modes until you see the playback mode symbol (play icon) in the top left corner.
  • This allows you to view any photos or videos you have taken with the camera.
  • Press the left and right arrow buttons to cycle through the photos/videos stored on the memory card.
  • The photo/video file number is displayed in the top right corner.
  • Videos are indicated by their video duration being displayed underneath the file number.
  • Videos can be played on the display screen by pressing the “ON/OK” button. To stop playback press the “ON/OK” button again.

DELETING PHOTOS AND VIDEOS

  • Photos and videos can be deleted from the memory card using the Nite-Eye 2000.
  • While in playback mode, navigate to the photo/video you wish to delete and press and hold the “ON/OK” button for 3 seconds. This will display a “Confirm Delete” screen.
  • Press the left and right arrow buttons to highlight the desired option with brackets, (Yes) to delete and (No) to cancel.
  • Press the “ON/OK” button to confirm your selection.
  • It is also possible to delete photos and videos by connecting the Nite-Eye 2000 to a computer via USB, or by removing the memory card and inserting it into a computer via card reader.

SCREEN BRIGHTNESS AND INFRARED

  • The adjustment menu allows you to alter the brightness of the digital display and IR lamp.
  • While in photo or video mode, press and hold the “M” button for 3 seconds to enter the adjustment menu.
  • The screen brightness can be set between 1-9, with 9 being the brightest.
  • The IR Lamp can be set between 0-9, with zero being off and 9 being the brightest.
  • Press the left and right arrow buttons to change brightness levels.
  • Press the “M” button to cycle between the display brightness and IR lamp settings.
  • The adjustment menu will automatically close after 5 seconds of inactivity.

Notes:

  • During night time usage, the infrared illuminator should be used to achieve the optimum viewing image.
  • During daytime, or if the environment is light enough, the infrared illuminator can be turned off to save power.
  • Be careful not to block the infrared illuminator, located next to the battery cover, as this will affect the viewing image.

TIME AND DATE SETTING

  • The adjustment menu allows you to alter the time and date setting stored on photos and videos.
  • While in photo or video mode, press and hold the “M” button for 3 seconds to enter the adjustment menu.
  • The Time Set menu is located underneath the screen brightness and lamp settings.
  • Press the “M” button to cycle between settings and highlight Time Set.
  • Press the left or right arrow button to access the time and date setting menu.
  • With the top line highlighted use the left and right arrow buttons to select how the date format is shown; DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, or YYYY/MM/DD.
  • Press the “ON/OK” button to confirm selection and move to the next setting of the menu.
  • Press the left and right arrow buttons to change the values of the highlighted option.
  • Once all date and time settings are correct, press the “ON/OK” button to exit the menu.
  • The correct date and time are now set and will be stored on the photo and video properties, as seen when connected to the computer.
  • The date and time settings will reset if the battery is fully discharged or removed from the monocular for long periods of time.

COMPUTER CONNECTION

  • Connect the camera to your computer using the USB lead supplied. This plugs into the mini USB socket located on the underside of the unit, beneath the rubber flap.
  • The computer will identify the camera automatically and read the content on the micro SD memory card.
  • Photos and videos can be played back directly from the memory card, copied to the computer for backup and storage, or can be deleted from the memory card if no longer wanted.
  • Always make sure to power off the Nite-Eye 2000 before disconnecting the USB lead. Failure to do so could result in memory card corruption and lost data. This is done by holding the “ON/OK” button for 5 seconds. Check that the display screen on the camera is powered off before disconnecting.
  • The battery will be charged while the camera is connected to the computer.
  • If connecting the memory card to the computer via a card reader, make sure to “Safely Remove” or “Eject” your memory card before removing from the computer. Failure to do so could result in memory card corruption and lost data.
  • If using a computer connection for charging only, the Nite-Eye 2000 unit can be powered off during this time. Do this by holding the “ON/OK” button for 5 seconds. The display screen will power off, but charging will continue.

MONITOR CONNECTION

  • The Nite-Eye 2000 is capable of mirroring the camera’s display screen onto a monitor or TV.
  • Using the supplied lead connect the 2.5mm headphone jack connection into the Nite-Eye 2000 in the socket located on the underside of the unit, beneath the rubber flap.
  • Connect the yellow (video) and red and white (audio) RCA plugs into the back of your compatible monitor or TV
  • While the Nite-Eye 2000 is powered on, all displays are mirrored through the video lead to your connected monitor or TV. All functions are still possible and the Nite-Eye 2000 can be operated as normal using the buttons on the camera.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Keep the camera in its carry case when not in use.
  • Operating temperature: -10°C to 50°C.
  • Store in a cool dry environment.
  • If the camera image jitters or the screen does not light up, recharge the battery.
  • Blow away any dust from the lens before wiping.
  • Inspect the battery regularly for any signs of degradation and replace if necessary.
  • If the monocular is not in use for long periods of time, recharge the battery every 6 months.

Subject to the limitations noted below, Hawke guarantees this product to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for 2 years of the original owner. If your Hawke product is found to have defects in materials or workmanship, we will repair or, if repair is not possible, replace the product with an equivalent.

The warranty does not cover failure caused by abuse or excessive wear and tear even within the warranty period.
