DANGER- TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTROCUTION:
- Always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet immediately after using and before cleaning.
- DO NOT reach for an appliance that has fallen into water. Unplug it immediately.
- DO NOT use while bathing or in shower.
- DO NOT place or store appliance where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.
- DO NOT place in or drop into water or other liquid.
- NEVER use pins or other metallic fasteners with this appliance.
- Keep dry – DO NOT operate in a wet or moist condition.
Caution: All servicing of this massager must be performed by authorized HoMedics service personnel only.
WARNING – TO REDUCE THE RISK OF BURNS, ELECTROCUTION, FIRE OR INJURY TO PERSONS:
- An appliance should never be left unattended when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before putting on or taking off parts or attachments.
- Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on or near children, invalids or disabled persons.
- Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by HoMedics; specifically any attachments not provided with the unit.
- NEVER operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Return it to HoMedics Service Center for examination and repair.
- Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
- DO NOT stand on or in appliance. Use only while seated.
- NEVER use while sleeping or fall asleep while using the massager.
- NEVER drop or insert any object into any opening.
- DO NOT operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
- DO NOT operate under a blanket or pillow. Excessive heating can occur and cause fire, electrocution or injury to persons.
- DO NOT carry this appliance by supply cord or use cord as handle.
- To disconnect, turn all controls to the “off” position, then remove plug from outlet.
- This appliance is designed for personal, non-professional use only.
- DO NOT use outdoors.
- DO NOT use on an infant or invalid or on a sleeping or unconscious person. DO NOT use on insensitive skin or on a person with poor blood circulation.
- DO NOT crush.

Caution—Please read all instructions carefully before operating.
- If you have any concerns regarding your health consult your doctor before using this product.
- Individuals with pacemakers should consult a doctor before use.
- Never leave the appliance unattended, especially if children are present.
- Never cover the appliance when it is in operation.
- Do not use this product for more than 15 minutes at a time.
- Extensive use could lead to the product’s excessive heating and shorter life. Should this occur, discontinue use and allow the unit to cool before operating.
- Never use this product directly on swollen or inflamed areas or skin eruptions.
- This product is a non-professional appliance designed to provide soothing massage to worn muscles.
- DO NOT use this product as a substitute for medical attention.
- DO NOT use this product before bed. The massage has a stimulating effect and can delay sleep.
- NEVER use this product while in bed.
- This product should NEVER be used by any individual suffering from any physical ailment that would limit the user’s capacity to operate the controls or who has sensory deficiencies in the lower half of their body. This is not a toy.
- This unit should not be used by children or invalids without adult supervision.
- This product is not for use in automobiles.
Battery Precautions
- Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
- When installing batteries, observe proper +/- polarities. Incorrect installation of batteries may cause damage to the unit.
- Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g., alkaline with carbon-zinc or old batteries with new ones).
- If the unit is not going to be used for a long period of time, remove batteries to prevent damage due to possible battery leakage.
- Do not dispose of batteries in fire – may cause batteries to explode or leak.
Caution: Never stand on unit as this may result in physical damage to both user and unit.
NOTE: Only gentle force should be exerted against the unit in order to eliminate any/all risk of injury.
For a relaxing foot massage:
- Sit in comfortable chair and place the unit in front of you so that massage control functions can be read. Slide feet between black, upright massage panels. (Fig. 1 Panels may be moving or turned off – whichever is easiest for you.) Keep toes flat on surface/base during use. Placing toes in between the base and a moving panel may cause pinching.
- Follow Instructions for Use on pages 8-9 for turning unit on or adjusting massage.Note: Massages over 15 minutes are not recommended. To protect from over heating, unit will automatically turn off after 15 minutes.
For a relaxing calf massage:
- Sit on floor or a comfortable chair. If sitting on floor, place massager in front of you on floor. If using a chair, place massager on a stable ottoman or stool at similar height to chair. (Fig. 2) Massager should face direction that allows you to read massage functions on control. Slide calves between black, upright Massage Panels. (Panels may be moving or turned off – whichever is easiest for you.)
- Follow Instructions for Use on pages 8-9 for turning unit on or adjusting massage.Note: Massages over 15 minutes are not recommended. To protect from over heating, unit will automatically turn off after 15 minutes.When massage is complete, remove feet or calves and turn massager off. Unplug and return cord to storage housing underneath unit. Return Control to its storage cradle. See Maintenance section for storage recommendations.
Automatic Shut Off
This product has been designed for convenience and safety. As a special precaution against falling asleep while using the unit, or leaving the unit on while it is still in operation, we’ve programmed it to automatically stop working 15 minutes after receiving your last command. Any time you change massage functions, the timer will reset. This special feature should not be considered as a substitute for OFF. Always remember to turn your unit off when not in use.
Please Note:
For added protection of your unit: When the power is on but no function is selected or only the HEAT function is chosen with no massage function selected, the unit will automatically shut off after 15 minutes.
Maintenance
To Store
Place massager in its box or in a safe, dry, cool place. Avoid contact with sharp edges or pointed objects which might cut or puncture the fabric surface. When storing, wrap cord around the four prongs on underside of unit. To avoid breakage, do not wrap the power cord around the unit. Do not hang unit by the hand control cord.
To Clean
Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before cleaning. Clean only with a soft, slightly damp sponge. Never allow water or any other liquids to come into contact with the unit.
- Do not immerse in any liquid to clean.
- Never use abrasive cleaners, brushes, gasoline, kerosene, glass / furniture polish or paint thinner to clean.
- Do not attempt to repair the unit. There are no user serviceable parts. For service, send the unit to the HoMedics address listed in the warranty section.
Instructions for Use
Powering up:
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug fits into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. The massager is powered by and comes equipped with a UL approved cord. Always make sure unit is set to the “Off” position before inserting the plug into a 120 volt household electrical outlet. Red light on unit will illuminate.
Selecting Massage Type:
Press the “Kneading High”, Kneading Low”, or “Vibration Massage” button on control. See pages 10-11 for more detail.
Note: Vibration function works with Kneading massage turned on or alone.
Control can be left in its cradle –
or can be picked up and held in your hand. If hand held, point red end of remote toward infrared eye in remote’s cradle when pressing buttons.
Note: Control will only work if pointed toward infrared eye unit up to a four foot range.
Selecting Massage Direction:
Massage direction can be set by pressing “Direction” button on control during “Kneading High” or Kneading Low” functions. Changing massage “direction” allows for either a top-to-bottom or bottom-to-top massage.
Activating or Changing Functions:
- Pressing any function once will turn that function “on”.
- You may move from one massage function to another by pressing a different function button.
- Any active function can be turned off by pressing the “off” button at top of control, or any active function can be turned off by pressing its button again.
Replacing Remote Batteries:
Remote operates on 2 AAA batteries (included). When batteries need replacing,
- Press battery release tab (Fig. 3) to remove cover.
- Insert batteries 2 AAA batteries into the chamber as directed on bottom of compartment. Replace battery cover.
- Do not dispose of batteries in fire – may cause batteries to explode or leak.
