HMDX-S5 PORTABLE SPEAKER USER MANUAL
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS:
When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING
Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on or near children, invalids or disabled persons.
WARNING: Do not place speakers too close to ears. May cause damage to ear drums, especially in young children.
Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by HMDX AUDIO.
HMDX AUDIO is not liable for any damage caused to iPod/MP3 player or any other device.
Do not place or store appliance where it can fall or be dropped into a tub or sink.
Do not place or drop into water or any other liquid.
Not for use by children. THIS IS NOT A TOY.
Turn off appliance when not in use.
Never operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord, plug, cable or housing. If it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, return it to HMDX AUDIO Service Center for examination and repair.
Keep away from heated surfaces.
Do not place in or drop into water or other liquid.
Only set on dry surfaces. Do not place on surface wet from water or cleaning solvents.

Caution: Please read all instructions carefully before operating.
Never leave the appliance unattended, especially if children are present.
Never cover the appliance when it is in operation.
This unit should not be used by children without adult supervision.
Always keep the appliance away from high temperature and fire.
Battery Precautions
Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
When installing batteries, observe proper +/- polarities. Incorrect installation of battery may cause damage to the unit.
Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g., alkaline with carbon-zinc or old batteries with new ones).
If the unit is not going to be used for a long period of time, remove batteries to prevent damage due to possible battery leakage.
Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Batteries may explode or leak.
This product contains small parts that may present a choking hazard for young children.
BATTERY INSTALLATION:
Press the OPEN latch and lift the clear protective window to open. The battery compartment is located inside.
If support pads are inside protective window, remove them to reveal the battery compartment.
Remove the battery cover and insert three “AA” alkaline batteries using the correct polarity direction as indicated.
Replace the battery cover.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
To listen to the Radio: (Fig. 1)
Slide the switch on the front of the speaker to the FM position.
Press the buttons to select your station.
Once the station is set, the LCD screen will return to the Time display.
To control the volume, use the buttons.
To change stations, press the Mode button. The current station will show on the display. Use the buttons to select another station.
To “scan” throught the stations, press and hold either of the buttons.
To set the Time: (Fig. 1)
Press the Time Set button once.
The hour digit will begin to flash.
Press the buttons to set the time.
Press the Time Set button again and the minute digit will begin to flash.
Press to set minutes.
Press Time Set once more to set time.
To listen to your MP3 Player: (Fig. 2)
Press the OPEN latch and lift the clear protective window.
NOTE: 2 SUPPORT PADS are included with your HMDX-S5. The pads help hold your MP3 player in place so it can be operated through the protective window.
Use SUPPORT PAD 1 for nano (and other thin MP3 players)
Use SUPPORT PAD 2 for iPod touch (and other thick MP3 players)
iPhone does not require a support pad.
Important: iPod Classic is not recommended for use with this product
Plug the Audio Input Jack into the headphone input of your MP3 player.
Close the clear protective window.
To listen to your MP3 player, slide the switch on the front of the HMDX-S5 to the Aux position.
Pressing firmly on your MP3 device through the protective window, turn your player on as you normally would.
To control the volume, use the buttons on the front of the speaker in conjunction with the volume controls on your MP3 player.
When finished listening, turn your MP3 player off and slide the switch on the front of the speaker to the Off position.
To use the Intergrated Stand Feature: (Fig. 3)
Lift the Intergrated Stand open with your fingernail until it clicks in place.
Set speaker unit on it’s side and enjoy!
When finished enjoying either radio or MP3 music, slide the switch to the Off position.
