Caring for your Rest speaker table

Important Safety Information

Important – Please read these instructions fully before installing or operating your speaker.Keep away from flame sources such as lighted candles.

The table speaker should not be exposed to direct sunlight, very high or low temperature, vibrations, strong magnetic fields, high frequencies, and dusty environments.Make sure ventilation is not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc.This product contains a built-in Li-ion battery. It must be used and charged properly. Improper use can cause the battery to catch fire or explode resulting in serious or fatal injury Never attempt to insert wires, pins or other such objects into the vents or openings of the unit.

Do not disassemble or modify the speaker housing, there are no user-serviceable parts.If the speaker is damaged in any way or malfunctions do not use. Consult a qualified service engineer.Do not use abrasives, benzene, thinner or other solvents to clean the surface of the unit. To clean, wipe with clean soft cloth and a mild detergent solution on the tabletop.This product contains a Li-ion battery and should be disposed of appropriately. Do not dispose of it with household waste at the end of its life cycle; hand it over to a collection center for the recycling of electrical and electronic appliances with batteries. Please check with your Local Authority for recycling advice.

Your Rest speaker is supplied with three legs with built-in screws that fit into corresponding threaded sockets on the underside of the speaker as shown above.

  1. Place the speaker upside down on a clean flat nonabrasive surface with the leg sockets facing upwards
  2. Align the screw on the end of each leg with one of the threaded sockets on the underside of the table and screw gently into position taking care not to cross-thread the screws.  Make sure all three legs are screwed firmly into the sockets then place the table upright close to a wall socket ready for charging.

Charging your Rest table speakerYour Rest speaker has a built-in non-user-replaceable Lithium battery allowing it to be fully operational without being dependent on a connection to a wall socket. For best results, the first time you use the speaker, let it charge for 4-5 hours until fully charged.

  1. Plug the power adaptor supplied into a mains socket
  2. Plug the power adaptor jack plug into the DC socket (9) on the back of the speaker table. Make sure the mains socket is switched on. The table Mode LED (7) will light up Red.

When the table is fully charged the Red LED will go out (and flash Blue in Bluetooth pairing mode).When disconnected the battery charge level will be affected by the speaker volume, connection method and also the number and type of devices that are being charged.When the battery level is low the Mode LED (7) will flash slowly and you will hear a chime that will repeat every 20 seconds.Powering your Table Speaker Long press the power button (1) to switch on and enter Bluetooth mode (blue LED (7) will fast flash). Long press and release the power button (1) to switch off.Bluetooth Connection With your table speaker in Bluetooth mode and the Mode LED (7) flashing Blue (or steady red with flashing purple if the power adaptor is connected) enter the Bluetooth menu on your phone or another Bluetooth device. Search for “i-box Rest” in the menu, select and pair.

When you successfully pair your speaker and device, you will hear a chime and the blue LED (or steady red with flashing purple) will stop flashing and will remain constantly lit.To pair to a different Bluetooth device long-press the Play/Pause button (2) you will hear a chime and the Blue LED will start flashing to indicate that your speaker has disconnected and re-entered pairing mode.Bluetooth Audio PlaybackYou can use your Bluetooth device to control music playback. Alternatively, the buttons on the control panel of the Rest can be used to play/pause (short press 2) and navigate between tracks (long press 3 & 4). To control the volume you can use the controls on your Bluetooth device or on the speaker control panel (short press -/+ buttons 3 & 4) .AUX IN ModeAn AUX-IN port (8) is provided for connection to non-Bluetooth devices.

  1. Connect a compatible audio device using a 3.5mm stereo jack cable (not supplied) connected to the AUX IN socket (8) on the back of the Rest.Short press the Power/Mode button (1) to enter AUX mode.The LED (7) will flash blue slowly (every second) when the speaker is in AUX mode.
  2. Ensure the connected device is producing an audio signal, then adjust the volume using a combination of the audio source volume controls and the / (3 & 4) buttons on the speaker control panel. To control playback use the controls on your AUX device

To return to Bluetooth mode short press the Power/Mode button (1).

Wireless Charging

The Rest table speaker features a unique wireless charging zone located as shown opposite.Place any Qi wireless charging enabled mobile device directly onto this zone when the speaker is switched on (or on charge), your device will begin charging and the Wireless  Charging LED (6) will light up Green.Please Note:The Wireless Charging LED (6) will flash Green if metallic objects other than Qi-enabled devices are placed in the charging area. Please remove them from the charging area immediately as they can represent a hazard and could cause a fire.

If problems occur when charging or charging doesn’t start:

  • Adjust the phone position continuously until the wireless charging LED lights up.
  • If your Rest table speaker is in battery mode (disconnected from the mains) make sure it is switched on to enable wireless charging.
  • Remove your smartphone from its case if the thickness of the case exceeds 5mm or if it has a metal composition.
  • The built-in wireless charge receiver may not be located centrally inside the phone, place the phone slightly off-center from the cross.
  • Charging time varies depending on the battery’s capacity and its residual charge.
  • The components may heat up during the charging process. They will slowly cool down after charging.

Power SavingPower Saving: If there is no Bluetooth audio input for 10 minutes your Rest table speaker will automatically power off even if wireless charging is being used.USB ChargingFor mobiles and other devices that don’t have wireless charging capability a 5V1 Amp USB charging port (5) is provided on the back panel of your table speaker. When the speaker is either switched on or connected to mains power, the USB port will be active and ready to charge. Use your mobile’s standard charging cable to connect to the USB  charging port.

Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing problems with your Rest speaker there are some quick and easy checks that you can do, which may help to solve the problem.

Problem Solutions
Speaker is not charging  Check that the correct power the adaptor is being used Check that the power adaptor is properly connected Check that the mains the socket is switched on
There is no soundbeing emitted  Adjust the volume on your  Bluetooth  or AUX device as well as  on the speaker for optimum volume and sound quality Make sure that your Bluetooth  device is an ineffective range Ensure that the Bluetooth device is paired or that the AUX device is  properly connected
Wireless chargingisn’t working  Adjust the position of the phone, the built-in wireless receiver may not be centered inside the phone The phone case is more than 5mm  thick or contains too much metal  -remove the case Rest is insufficiently charged –  connect the speaker’s  power adaptor to start  charging
