Introduction

Thank you for purchasing a Insignia Ultrabook Charger. Thischarger plugs into any AC power outlet and provides a reliablepower source to run your Ultrabook computer and charge itsinternal battery. Insignia chargers are made using the highestquality components and feature all of the necessary voltage andheat protection circuits to ensure maximum levels of safety andefficiency.

NOTE: A physical adapter plug may be necessary to pluginto some AC power outlets outside of the United States,but no voltage converter is needed anywhere in the world.

This charger comes with a variety of numbered tips whichconnect to the output cable of the charger and control theoutput voltage. To make sure that the proper voltage is deliveredto your Ultrabook, you must always make sure that you are usingthe correct tip for your specific Ultrabook model. Read the

following instructions and go to the Tip Wizard at http://bbyurl.us/tipfinder to make sure you select the correct tip foryour laptop.

CAUTION: This charger is not compatible with Maccomputers or Ultra books requiring more than 65 watts ofpower.

Safety information

  • Do not expose the charger to rain, moisture, orexcessive dust. It may cause shock hazards.
  • Do not operate the charger in direct sunlight.
  • Operate the charger in a well ventilated area. Maximumambient temperature around the charger must notexceed 93.2° Fahrenheit (35° Celsius).
  • Do not open the charger under any circumstances. Thecharger is not intended to be repaired in case of failureor component defect. There are no internal serviceableparts.
  • Discontinue use and contact our toll free help line forassistance (877) 467-4289 if any of the following shouldoccur:• The charger shuts down when it is plugged into thedevice (LED turns off ).• The charger’s LED light blinks when the charger isplugged into an AC power outlet.• A cord or plug is damaged or frayed.
  • Do not use with Ultra books that require more than65 watts of power.

  • Keep away from children.
  • The socket outlet shall be installed near the adapter andshall be easily accessible.

Using the Ultrabook charger

To use the Ultrabook charger:

  1. Locate your laptop manufacturer and model from theTip Wizard at http://bbyurl.us/tipfinder.
  2. Identify the correct tip number for your Ultrabookmodel.CAUTION: The use of an incorrect tip may damage yourUltrabook. Do not use this product if you cannot locateyour Ultrabook model by using the Tip Wizard at http://bbyurl.us/tipfinder. If you still have questions, contact ourtoll-free help line for assistance at (877) 467-4289. Thischarger is not compatible with Mac computers orUltrabooks requiring more than 65 watts of power.                                     Note: If the compatible tip for your device is not included inthe charger package, one free tip can be ordered throughthe Tip Wizard at http://bbyurl.us/tipfinder. Use the TipWizard to locate the manufacturer and model and you canorder your complementary tip.   3. Locate the specified tip from the tip bundle provided.Each tip is clearly numbered.Note: For illustration purposes only. Actual tips includedwith your charger may vary
  4. Connect the selected tip to the end of the output cable,making sure that the pins on the tip are aligned with theholes in the cable. Make sure that the tip is firmlyconnected to the output cable’s connector.
  5. Connect the AC cord to the socket on the charger.
  6. Plug the AC cord into an AC power outlet. The LED onthe charger turns on, indicating that the charger ispowered and ready.IMPORTANT: If the charger’s LED does not turn on, or if itblinks, discontinue use and contact our toll free help line forassistance at (877) 467-4289.
  7. Plug the tip connected to the output cable into the DCinput jack on your Ultrabook. The charger powers theUltrabook and charges its battery.

How do I connect the tip to the charger cable?

After you have selected the correct tip for your Ultrabook,connect the tip to the output cable, making sure that the ridgeon the inside of the tip aligns properly with the groove in theoutput cable connector. Additionally, the pins on the inside ofthe tip should be in line with the holes in the output cable. Thetip should be pushed firmly onto the cable until the tip and cablemeet and there is no gap.

What other Ultra books can I use this charger for?

Why doesn’t the tip fit into my Ultrabook?

If the tip does not appear to fit into your Ultrabook you may haveselected the incorrect tip for your Ultrabook. The tip should fitsnugly inside the DC input jack on the side or back of yourUltrabook. If the tip does not fit into the jack, do not force the tip.Confirm you have selected the correct tip for your Ultrabook byvisiting the Tip Wizard at http://bbyurl.us/tipfinder. Will using an incorrect tip damage my Ultrabook?

The tips are designed to be used with specific Ultrabooks and soyou should only use the tip that is designated specifically foryour Ultrabook. The correct tip can be identified by using theonline Tip Wizard at http://bbyurl.us/tipfinder.The use of an incorrect tip may cause performance issues,including the inability to charge the internal battery or powerthe Ultrabook, or the display of an error message on theUltrabook screen. It is also possible that the use of an incorrecttip could damage your Ultrabook. For these reasons, it isnecessary to use the tip designed specifically for your Ultrabook.

My Ultrabook uses less than 65 watts (e.g. 40watts). Will this charger damage my Ultrabook?

No, using this charger will not damage your Ultrabook. Thischarger only supplies as much power as required by theUltrabook, up to a maximum of 65 watts.

My Ultrabook uses more than 65 watts (e.g. 90watts). Will this charger damage my Ultrabook?

This is a 65 watt charger and it should not be used with anycomputer that requires more than 65 watts. Using with acomputer that uses more than 65W can damage your charger.

I notice that the charger is warm when I use it. Isthis a problem?

During standard operation the charger body may feel warm, andthis is normal. The charger should always be placed in aventilated area in order to prevent over-heating.

If I leave the charger plugged in when I’m notusing it does it waste energy?

This Insignia charger meets EnergyStar and CEC V energyrequirements which means it is an energy-efficient productdesigned to conserve power. When the charger is plugged in andnot being used it draws less than 0.5W of power.

One-year limited warranty – Insignia

Definitions:

The Distributor* of Insignia branded products warrants to you, the originalpurchaser of this new Insignia-branded product (“Product”), that theProduct shall be free of defects in the original manufacturer of the materialor workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of your purchaseof the Product (“Warranty Period”).For this warranty to apply, your Product must be purchased in the UnitedStates or Canada from a Best Buy branded or Future Shop branded retailstore or online at www.bestbuy.com, www.bestbuy.ca, orwww.futureshop.ca and is packaged with this warranty statement.

How long does the coverage last?

The Warranty Period lasts for one year (365 days) from the date youpurchased the Product. Your purchase date is printed on the receipt youreceived with the Product.

What does this warranty cover?

During the Warranty Period, if the original manufacture of the material orworkmanship of the Product is determined to be defective by anauthorized Insignia repair center or store personnel, Insignia will (at its soleoption): (1) repair the Product with new or rebuilt parts; or (2) replace theProduct at no charge with new or rebuilt comparable products or parts.Products and parts replaced under this warranty become the property ofInsignia and are not returned to you. If service of Products or parts arerequired after the Warranty Period expires, you must pay all labor andparts charges. If you purchased the Product at a Best Buy or Future Shop retail storelocation, please take your original receipt and the Product to any Best Buyor Future Shop store. Make sure that you place the Product in its originalpackaging or packaging that provides the same amount of protection as

the original packaging. If you purchased the Product from a Best Buy orFuture Shop online web site (www.bestbuy.com, www.bestbuy.ca, orwww.futureshop.ca), mail your original receipt and the Product to theaddress listed on the web site.   • Products where the factory applied serial number has beenaltered or removed
  • Loss or Theft of this product or any part of the product
  • Display panels containing up to three (3) pixel failures (dots thatare dark or incorrectly illuminated) grouped in an area smallerthan one tenth (1/10) of the display size or up to five (5) pixelfailures throughout the display.
