Outdoor Use and Care

Though Adventurer is water-resistant and able to tolerate splashing water, please review the tips below to get the best performance from Adventurer:

  • Adventurers must only be used outdoors with power outlets or extension cords that are rated for outdoor use. Please do not connect the power cable to Adventurer in awet environment. Make sure the power input, power cable, and power outlet are all completely dry before making any connections.
  •  Please do not place Adventurer in standing water, and bring Adventurer indoors during extreme weather.

Rechargeable Batteries

  • Fully charge the battery prior to first use.
  •  Charge the battery completely after each use. It is acceptable to leave Adventurer plugged in; this will not overcharge the battery. The adventurer does not need to be powered on to charge the battery.
  •  The battery icon blinking on the Display means that the battery is charging. When fully charged, all segments of the battery icon will be lit without blinking. When the power cable is disconnected, the battery icon shows the current level of the battery.
  •  For best product longevity, do not store at exceedingly hot (greater than 90°F/32°C) or exceedingly cold (less than 32°F/0°C) temperatures. If you leave the battery level low and do not charge it for 6 months, it may permanently lose capacity.

Main Controls (Front Panel)

  1. Power Button: This button turns Adventurer on or off.
  2. Bluetooth Button: Press and release the Bluetooth button to pair to a Bluetooth device or disconnect a paired Bluetooth device. See below to learn more.
  3. Light Mode Button: Press this button to select how the lights on the front panel function. See below to learn more.
  4. Radio Selector: This button turns the FM radio on or off.
  5.  FM Presets: Press and hold a numeric preset button to assign the currently selected radio station to that preset number. Press and release the numeric preset button to go to the stored radio station.
  6.  Bass Boost: Press this button to enhance the overall bass frequency response.
  7.  Tune/Track Buttons: Press and release these buttons to tune in a radio station or go to the previous/next track on a Bluetooth-connected device. To “seek” (jump to the next available radio station), hold either button down for a few seconds.
  8. Play/Pause: Press to play or pause a track from a connected Bluetooth device.
  9. Link: Press and hold this button to start stereo linking to another Adventurer speaker. See below to learn more.
  10. Display: This screen shows information relevant to Adventurer’s current operation.
  11. Volume Control: Press this knob to toggle between controlling the music volume and controlling the microphone volume. Turn the knob to increase or decrease the volume.
  12. Microphone Input: This mono input accepts a 1/4” (6.35 mm) input such as a microphone, guitar, or another musical instrument.
  13. Auxiliary Input: This stereo 1/8” (3.5 mm) input can be used to connect a CD player, MP3 player, or another audio source.
  14.  USB Charging Port: Connect your device’s charge cable here to charge it. USB charging-only functions when the unit’s power is turned on.

Light Modes

Press the Light Mode button to toggle between three modes for the lights on the front panel:

  •  Color Cycle: the lights slowly glow and cycle through colors; press and hold the Light Mode button to freeze the lights on one color.
  •  Beat Sync: the lights react to the beat of the music.
  • Off: the lights turn off.

Pairing with a Bluetooth Device

  1. Make sure the speaker is within range of your Bluetooth device (no more than 100 ft. / 30.5 m away).
  2. Press and release the Bluetooth button on the speaker.
  3. Navigate to your Bluetooth device’s setup screen. Then find and select Adventurer. If your Bluetooth device prompts for a pairing code, enter 0000.

Note: If you have previously connected to your Bluetooth device, Adventurer will reconnect automatically.Tip: Press and hold the Bluetooth button to enable or disable the Bluetooth pairing voice prompts.To disconnect a paired Bluetooth device, press and release the Bluetooth button.

Stereo Linking Two Speakers

  1. Make sure the speakers are within range (no more than 50 ft. / 15.2 m away).
  2. Press and hold the Link button on each speaker to enter Stereo Link mode. Once the link has been established, LINK should appear on the Display.
  3. Select which unit will be the primary speaker by pressing and releasing its Bluetooth button. Use this speaker for pairing with a Bluetooth device or selecting a radio station. The primary speaker will play left channel audio, and the secondary speaker will play right channel audio.

To disconnect the link between the two speakers, double-press the Link button.

App Control

IMPORTANT: To ensure the best possible experience with the app, use the most current Android OS or iOS on your device.Note: Ensure that your device has internet access via your service provider or wireless connection. You can also download the app on your computer, but remember to connect and sync your device to transfer the app.

Follow these steps to download the free app on your device:

  1.  Open the Apple App Store or Google Play on your device. Then Search for the ION Sound XP app.
  2.  Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the app. Once downloaded, the ION Sound XP app will appear on your device’s home screen.

Safety & Warranty Information

Product Warranty(for products purchased in the U.S.A.)

  1. What is covered and for how long?All Products: ION Audio, LLC (“ION Audio”) warrants to the original purchaser that ION Audio products and all other accessories are free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for the period commencing upon the date of purchase from an authorized ION Audio dealer and continuing for the following period of time after that date for ninety (90) days. ION Audio warrants factory-refurbished merchandise to be free of material and operational defects for a period of ninety (90) days from the original date of retail sale. This refurbished merchandise warranty is not transferable.
  2.  What is not covered? This Limited Warranty is conditioned upon proper use of the product by the purchaser. This Limited Warranty does not cover: (a) damage caused by improper installation or improper connection to any peripheral; (b) damage caused by an external electrical fault; (c) damage from use of parts not manufactured or sold by ION Audio; (d) product purchased from anyone other than an ION Audio authorized dealer; (e) modifications to the product not approved in writing by ION Audio; (f)   equipment that has the serial number removed or made illegible; (g) normal cosmetic and mechanical wear; (h) damage or loss during transit to an Authorized ION Audio Repair Center; or (i) units that are purchased and/or located outside of the continental USA.
  3. What are ION Audio’s obligations? During the applicable warranty period, ION Audio will repair or replace, at ION Audio’s sole option, without charge to the purchaser, any defective component part of the product. To obtain service under this Limited Warranty, the purchaser must first contact ION Audio and obtain a return merchant authorization (“RMA”) number. Purchaser must then return the product to ION Audio in an adequate container for shipping, accompanied by purchaser’s sales receipt or comparable proof of sale showing the date of purchase, the serial number of the product, and the seller’s name and address. To obtain an RMA number and assistance on where to return the product, contact ION Audio customer service at 401-658-3743. Upon receipt, ION Audio will repair or replace the defective products. ION Audio may, at ION  Audio’s sole option, use rebuilt, reconditioned, or new parts or components when repairing any product or replace a product with a rebuilt, reconditioned, new or comparable product. Repaired products will be warranted for a period equal to the remainder of the original Limited Warranty on the original product or for 90 days, whichever is longer. All replaced parts, components, boards, and equipment become the property of ION Audio. If ION Audio determines that any product is not covered by this Limited Warranty, the purchaser must pay all parts, shipping, and labor charges for the repair or return of such product.
  4. What are the limits on ION Audio’s liabilities? THE WARRANTIES GIVEN IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY, TOGETHER WITH ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES COVERING ION AUDIO PRODUCTS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A  PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights, which vary from one jurisdiction to another.

Return Information

• A return merchant authorization number must be obtained from your local ION Audio representative. For your representative go to ionaudio.com.• A copy of the original sales receipt must also be included for the equipment to be repaired under warranty.• The faulty equipment must be packed in its original packaging.• One additional outer layer of the packaging must be included to ensure product safety. Important Safety Instructions

  1. Read and keep these instructions. Heed all warnings and follow all instructions.
  2. Water and Moisture (if applicable): This product should be kept away from direct contact with liquids.The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
  3. Do not block any ventilation openings (if applicable). Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not install this equipment in a confined or “boxed-in” space such as a bookcase or similar unit, and maintain good ventilation conditions. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items such as newspaper, tablecloths, curtains, etc.
  4. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Do not place exposed flame sources such as lighted candles on the apparatus.
  5. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug (if applicable). A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for the replacement of the obsolete outlet.
  6. (If applicable) Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus. When moving or not using the appliance, secure the power cord (e.g., wrap it with a cable tie). Be careful not to damage the power cord. Before using it again, make sure the power cord has not been damaged. If the power cord has been damaged at all, bring the unit and cord to a qualified service technician for repair or replacement as specified by the manufacturer.
  7. Use only the cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus (if applicable). When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
  8.  Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
  9.  Power Sources (if applicable): This product should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in these operating instructions, or as marked on the unit.
  10. Protective earthing terminal (if applicable): The apparatus should be connected to a mains socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.
