A. CV Standard Kit (VPK-CVSTD)

WARNINGIn order to prevent risk of electrical shock, fire, or Carbon Monoxide poisoning, before beginning the installation of the Jandy Pro SeriesVersa Plumb Kit, be sure to do the following:· Turn off all elctrical power, gas supply and other sources of power to the pool equipment.· Follow the pool filter’s installation instructions to properly drain the filter for service.WARNINGBefore restarting the system, consult the installation and operating manuals for each piece of equipment for proper startup procedures.NEVER start pump while standing within five (5) feet of the filter. Starting the pump while there is pressurized air in the system can cause the filter lid to be blown off, which can cause death, serious personal injury or property damage.WARNINGIn order to minimize the possibility of ingesting potentially toxic substances which could cause injury from illness, including death, whenever the instructions call for the use of “CPVC cement”, use a cement that has been listed by NSF® or an equivalent Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) or certification body. Read and follow the cement manufacturer’s danger and cautionary statements and instructions for use.

Bring the suction and return piping up through the perforated holes on the template.3. Connect the pump to the suction lines (pool only or pool/spa combo) using CPVC cement and primer. The length of pipe into the suction port of the pump should be a minimum of four (4) times the pipe diameter.4. Use CPVC cement and primer and connect the pump to the filter using the sweep elbow with the ½” NPT plug component of the kit, marked as “A” in figure 1. This positions the filter.5. Use CPVC cement and primer and connect the filter to the heater using the straight length of pipe with union nuts on both ends, marked as “B” in figure 1. This positions the heater.6. Attach the check valve (marked as “C” in figure 1) to the outlet of the LXiTM making sure the flow arrow points in the correct direction.7. If desired, attach a salt chlorinator spool or a blank spool assembly provided in this kit to the check valve and then run the return line from the spool to the trench using CPVC cement and primer.NOTE Also included in the Versa Plumb Kit are two (2) additional 3-way valves and a spare 12″ of pipe for your use in the event that you add additional components on the return system.

B.1 Piping and Valve Connections to the Solar Stub-OutsIMPORTANTTo avoid potential hazard to the user, the United States Consumer Products Safety Commision has determined that the temperature of the water at the INLET to a pool or spa must not exceed 122°F (50°C).NOTE: The water in a spa should never exceed 104°F (40°C). Water temperatures between 100°F (38°C) and 104°F (40°C) are considered safe for a healthy adult. Lower water temperatures are recommended for young children and when spa use exceeds 10 minutes.Solar collector panels MUST drain down completely when the circulating pump is off. To allow this, the solar collector panels must be installed at an elevation higher than the pool surface, and the solar collector panels MUST be provided with an automatic air relief/vacuum-breaker valve at the top of the collector panel(s).

1. Position the pool suction and return lines in front of the equipment pad location.2. Position the various equipment pad components. Bring the suction and return piping up through the perforated holes on the template.3. Connect the pump to the suction lines (pool only or pool/spa combo) using CPVC cement and primer. The length of pipe into the suction port of the pump should be a minimum of four (4) times the pipe diameter.4. Use CPVC cement and primer and connect the pump to the filter using the sweep elbow with the ½” NPT plug component of the kit, marked as “A” in figure 2. This positions the filter.5. Use CPVC cement and primer and connect the filter to the heater using the provisional solar assembly component with union nuts on both ends, marked as “B” in figure 2. This positions the heater.6. Attach the check valve (marked as “C” in figure 2) to the outlet of the heat pump making sure the flow arrow points in the correct direction.7.

WARNINGTo prevent equipment damage and/or scald hazards to the user, only solar collector panels with automatic air relief/vacuum breaker valves should be used. Solar collector panels MUST drain down when the circulation pump is off.Read all manufacturer’s equipment installation instructions and safety information before installation, testing, or operation of the system.Release all air from the system before testing. Water pressure for test must not exceed 35 psi. Water temperature for test must not exceed 100°F (38°C).NEVER start pump while standing within five (5) feet of the filter. Starting the pump while there is pressurized air in the system can cause the filter lid to be blown off, which can cause death, serious personal injury or property damage.NOTE The check valve and the Jandy valve actuator (shown in figure3) are not included in the CV Solar Versa Plumb Kit.1. Install a check valve and piping (see Figure 3).2. Install the Jandy valve actuator onto the Jandy 3-port diverter valve (see Figure 3).

Page 4

3. Install the solar controller (not shown) per the manufacturer’s instructions and connect to the Jandy valve actuator on the Jandy 3-port diverter valve. The Jandy valve actuator must be adjusted to provide the diverter positions shown in Figures 4 and 5 in conjunction with the solar controller.

6. Plumbing for Pool and SpaCombinationThe following plumbing diagrams illustrate simplified versions of standard plumbing setups for a pool and spa that share the same filter pump, filter, and heater. The intake and return JVA’s turn simultaneously so when the spa button is pressed on the AquaLink® RS control panel, water circulation switches between pool and spa (consult the Jandy Valve Actuator Installation and Operation Manual to ensure that the JVA’s are synchronized and rotate properly). Please consult the Jandy Valve® Plumbing Manual for further examples of pool/spa plumbing.NOTE When the filter system is shared (a pool/spa combo), the spa water must be able to overflow back to the pool.WARNINGFlow rates must never exceed the manufacturer’s flow maximums for any suction fittings or skimmers. Additional fixed adjustment valve(s) or flow restrictors may need to be installed. Exceeding manufacturer’s recommended flow rates may cause serious personal injury or death.
