Introduction

Welcome to Kramer Electronics! Since 1981, Kramer Electronics has been providing a world of unique, creative, and affordable solutions to the vast range of problems that confront video, audio, presentation, and broadcasting professionals on a daily basis. In recent years, we have redesigned and upgraded most of our line, making the best even better!

Getting Started

We recommend that you:

  • Unpack the equipment carefully and save the original box and packaging materials for possible future shipment.
  • Review the contents of this user manual.

Go to www.kramerav.com/downloads/KRT-4 to check for up-to-date user manuals, application programs, and to check if firmware upgrades are available (where appropriate).

Achieving the Best Performance

  • Use only good-quality connection cables (we recommend Kramer high-performance, high-resolution cables) to avoid interference, deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise levels (often associated with low-quality cables).
  • Do not secure the cables in tight bundles or roll the slack into tight coils.
  • Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances that may adversely influence signal quality.
  • Position your Kramer KRT-4 away from moisture, excessive sunlight, and dust.

Safety InstructionsCaution:

  • This equipment is to be used only inside a building. It may only be connected to other equipment that is installed inside a building.
  • There are no operator serviceable parts inside the unit.

Recycling Kramer Products

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive 2002/96/EC aims to reduce the amount of WEEE sent for disposal to landfills or incineration by requiring it to be collected and recycled. To comply with the WEEE Directive, Kramer Electronics has made arrangements with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling, and recovery of waste Kramer Electronics branded equipment on arrival at the EARN facility. For details of Kramer’s recycling arrangements in your particular country go to our recycling pages at www.kramerav.com/support/recycling.

Installing KRT-4

KRT-4 can be installed in the following ways:

  • Attaching KRT-4 to the Underside of a Table, on page 5.
  • Attaching KRT-4 to a TBUS, on page 6.
Attaching KRT-4 to the Underside of a Table

You can mount KRT-4 to the underside surface of a table and use it as a standalone device.

To attach KRT-4 under a table:

  1. Place KRT-4 under the table in the desired location. Make sure that the retracting cable faces the edge of the table.
  2. Pass the 3 4×50 Philips screws through the table screw openings (4)and tighten them to fix the retractor under the table.

Attaching KRT-4 to a TBUS

You can attach one or more KRT-4 units to the enclosure of any modular Kramer TBUS with pass-through inserts that are installed inside a table. The KRT-4 units can usually be attached to the front and rear sides of the enclosure, as the left and right sides are fitted with clamps. Alternatively, the clamps can be installed on the front and rear sides to enable attaching KRT-4 to the left and right sides of the TBUS enclosure.

For TBUS models with a sliding lid (for example, TBUS-10xl), you can only use the front side of the enclosure to mount the KRT-4 units.

Attaching a Single KRT-4 UnitTo Attach the KRT-4 to a TBUS unit:

1. Slide the KRT-4 onto one of the sides of the TBUS enclosure. Make sure to position the fixed cable (3) downwards and the retractor cable (7) upwards.

2. Use the wing-head thumbscrew to fix the KRT-4 firmly in place.

3. Attach the WCP-(KRT) insert in the following way:

a. Insert the cable through the bushing opening.b. Insert the cable by bushing through the insert opening.c. Push the bushing into the insert opening.

d. Use the two M3x5 screws to attach the insert to the TBUS opening.

The KRT-4 is now firmly fixed in place.

Attaching Several KRT-4 UnitsYou can attach several KRT-4 units to a Kramer TBUS:

  • For TBUS units with a sliding cover (for example, the Kramer TBUS-10xl), attach the KRT-4 units side-by-side to the front side of the TBUS enclosure (Figure 7):

  • For TBUS units with a regular cover (for example, the Kramer TBUS-1Axl), attach the KRT-4 units side-by-side to the front and rear side of the TBUS enclosure (Figure 8).

To maximize the number of KRT-4 units that can be attached to TBUS-1AXL, TBUS-1-KWC or TBUS-1N, use an inner frame that does not include single or dual power sockets or alternatively, install T-2INSERT/T-4INSERT in the single/dual power socket opening.

Connecting to the KRT-4

You can connect the following devices to the KRT-4.
