PILLOW

FIRST SIDE Set Up

Pull out one end of A yarn and count out 27 loops. You’ll be working on just 24 loops. This length of 24 loops will be the beginning of your Pillow, the other 3 loops are beginning yarn tail and will be secured later. Lay this length of 27 loops onto a flat surface, with the end of the yarn on your right-hand side. Check to be sure that all loops are facing upwards and that the loops aren’t twisted. Now you’ll be working in rows across the length of loops. The yarn that’s coming from the yarn ball is called the working yarn. Hold the working yarn behind the length of loops. With your thumb and index finger, reach through the first loop on the right-hand side, reaching from the front through to the back, and pull the next loop from the working yarn through the first loop. Row 1: Working across the length of loops from right to left, continue to pull the next loop of working yarn through the next loop on the length of loops until you have pulled up 24 loops.

NOTE Row 1 is the right side, the side that will face out, on the Pillow.

Row 2: Working from left to right, with the working yarn in the back (do not turn the work), pull up a loop in each loop.Row 3: Move the working yarn to the front. Working from right to left, and reaching through from back through to the front, pull up a loop in each loop.Row 4: Working from left to right, with the working yarn in the front, pull up a loop in each loop.Row 5: Move the working yarn to the back. Working from right to left, with the working yarn in the back and reaching through from front to back, pull up a loop in each loop.Row 6: Working from left to right, with the working yarn in the back, pull up a loop in each loop.Rows 7-18: Repeat Rows 3-6.

FINISH OFF LOOPS

Now you’ll need to finish off your loops. Drop the working yarn. Working in the same direction as the last row you made, pull the second loop through the first; pull the third loop through the second; pull the fourth through the third and so on across to the end of the row. Now you’re back at the side with working yarn. Carefully snip the remaining loops off the working yarn tail. Pull working yarn through the last loop and knot.

SECOND SIDE

With B, work Set Up and Row 1 same as for the First Side of Pillow.NOTE On the Second Side of the Pillow, Row 1 is the wrong side, the side that will be on the inside of the Pillow.

Row 2: Working from left to right, with the working yarn in the back and reaching through from front to back, pull up a loop in each loop.Row 3: Working from right to left, with the working yarn in the back, pull up a loop in each loop.Rows 4-17: Repeat Rows 2 and 3.Row 18: Repeat Row 2.Finish off loops same as for the First Side.

FINISHING

Thread the blunt needle with a length of smooth yarn and sew 3 open sides of the Pillow together, leaving the fourth side open.  Insert the pillow form, then sew the fourth side closed. Carefully snip the remaining loops from each yarn tail. Just snip the loops off, don’t cut through the yarn! Pull each of the trimmed tails through Pillow to hide them.
