MATERIALS

  • LION BRAND® SCARFIE (Art. #826) #236 Mustard/Ice Pink 2 balls
  • LION BRAND® crochet hook size K-10.5 (6.5 mm)
  • LION BRAND® large-eyed blunt needle

GAUGE1 ripple = about 4 1/2 in. (11.5 cm), measured from peak to peak.BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

NOTES

  1. Scarf is worked back and forth in rows of a ripple pattern. The ripple pattern is easy to do, but it’s important to remember that you may need to work several rows before the ripple pattern becomes clear.
  2. After Row 1, the ripple pattern consists of alternating 3-dc peaks and skipped st valleys. Take care to keep the peaks and valleys of each row aligned. 3 dc are worked into the center dc each peak and 2 sts are skipped at the center valley.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 6 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 7 ch, sk next ch, sc in next 7 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in last 7 ch ­ you will have 34 sc in this row, forming 2 ripples.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, sk first 2 sts, dc in next 6 sts, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 7 sts, sk next 2 sts, dc in next 7 sts, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 6 sts, sk next st, dc in last st.

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, sk first 2 sts, dc in next 6 sts, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 7 sts, sk next 2 sts, dc in next 7 sts, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 6 sts, sk next st, dc in top of beg ch-3. Repeat Row 3 until piece measures about 65 in. (165 cm) from beg. Fasten off.

FINISHINGWeave in ends.

FringeCut 5 strands of yarn about 15 in. (38 cm) long. Hold strands together and fold in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through a peak at one end of Scarf, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten. Make fringe in each peak and valley along both ends of Scarf.

Trim fringe ends evenly.
