GAUGE7 hdc = about 5 in. (12.5 cm) with A.DON’T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT YOUR GAUGE! GAUGE WILL VARY BETWEEN THE YARNS.
NOTES
- The blanket is worked in one piece. The center section is worked in rows, so you’ll turn the piece for each row. The border is worked in the round without turning.
- This Blanket is meant to be fun and improvisational – an expression of your own creativity! Use different yarn colors and change color as you like to make it your own!
- To begin a new yarn color, change the yarn color in the last st of the old color. To change yarn color, work the last stitch of the old color to last yarn over. Leaving a long beginning tail, yarn over with new color, and draw through all loops on hook to complete the stitch. Cut old yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. You’ll weave in the yarn tails when you finish the Blanket.

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook (the 2 skipped ch count as first dc) and in each ch across – you will have 32 dc in this row.Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as dc), turn, skip first st, dc in each st across, working the last dc in top of beginning ch.Continue to repeat Row 2, changing yarn color following Diagram, until you’ve completed the stripes shown on Diagram.Your Blanket should measure about 51 1/2 in. (131 cm) from the beginning. Fasten off.
BorderNote: The border is worked all around outside edge of Blanket – in roundsinstead of rows.
Join any color yarn with a slip st anywhere along the outside edge of the Blanket.
Round 1: Ch 2, work dc evenly spaced around outside edge of Blanket, working 3 dc in each corner. When you reach the beginning ch, join the last st you worked with a slip st in the top of the beginning ch.Round 2: Ch 2, work dc in each dc around, working 3 dc in the center st at each corner; join the last st you worked with a slip st in the top of the beginning ch.Continue to repeat Round 2, changing yarn color as you like. Shi’s border measured about 3 3/4 in. (9.5 cm) wide, but you can keep going to use up all of your yarn.At the end of the last round, fasten off.
