BEFORE YOU BEGIN

The temporary battery box connected to your Tobi™ Friend is for in-store demonstration and must be removed before playing to enjoy the full interactive experience. (Fig. 1) After removing the battery box, an adult must follow the instructions below to remove and dispose of the batteries.Remember: Batteries must not be disposed of with other household waste. Please use designated collection points or recycling facilities when disposing of them

  1. Remove the screw and battery compartment cover from the temporary battery box.
  2. Remove the batteries from inside of the temporary battery box and dispose properly. (Fig. 2)
  3. Close the compartment cover and discard the temporary battery box.
  4. Remove the tab from under your Tobi™ Friend and discard. (Fig. 3)

INTERACT WITH YOUR TOBI™ FRIEND

Your Tobi™ Friend will interact back and forth with you in its own language, while lighting up and moving its head.

  1. Ensure the switch under your Tobi™ Friend is in the ON (I) position.
  2. Press the button on top of your Tobi™ Friend to start interacting.
  3. Speak, play music, clap or make any noise close to the microphone to interact with your Tobi™ Friend

INTERACT WITH OTHER TOBI™ FRIENDS

obi™ Friends will interact back and forth in their own language, while lighting up and moving their heads.

  1. Ensure the switches under Tobi™ Friends are moved to the ON (I) position.
  2. Press the button on top of one Tobi™ Friend’s head to start the interaction.
  3. The Tobi™ Friends will communicate back and forth in their own language telling jokes, arguing, and more!
  4. After about 10 interactions, Tobi™ Friends will go to sleep. Wake them up by pressing the buttons on their heads, or turn them off and back on again.

TIP: Make sure your Tobi™ Friends are in close proximity (about 8 in./20 cm or closer) for optimal interaction.

INTERACT WITH TOBI™ ROBOT SMARTWATCH

Your Tobi™ Friend will make sound, light up, and move its head when you use your nearby Tobi™ Robot Smartwatch

Check the Firmware Updater screen in settings on your Tobi™ Robot Smartwatch. Then, check for available firmware updates at www.tobismartwatch.com and follow the instructions to download and install.

  1. Ensure the switch under your Tobi™ Friend is the ON (I) position and that your Tobi™ Robot Smartwatch is on.
  2. Try these functions on your Tobi™ Robot Smartwatch to see how your Tobi™ Friend responds to the sounds.
    • Swipe right or left, tap on Tobi™, feed Tobi™, earn a trophy, or make Tobi™ dizzy, sleepy or bored!
    • Tap on various emojis on your Tobi™ Robot Smartwatch.
    • Snap photos on your Tobi™ Robot Smartwatch.
    • Let an alarm or timer go off.
    • Select a stamp for the calendar.

TIP: Make sure your Tobi™ Robot Smartwatch and Tobi™ Friends are in close proximity (about 4 in./10 cm or closer) for optimal interaction.

REPLACING THE BATTERIES

An ADULT must replace the batteries should they need replacing. Here’s how:

  1. Before replacing the batteries, make sure your Tobi™ Friend is turned OFF (O).
  2. Using a Phillips screwdriver (not included) remove the screw and battery compartment cover from under the unit.
  3. Install six (6) 1.5V AG13 (LR44) alkaline batteries (not included) making sure the (+) and (-) ends face the proper direction as indicated inside the battery compartment.
  4. Replace the compartment cover and tighten the screw.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Temporary battery box is not a toy.
  • Play is limited in TRY ME mode (temporary battery box still connected). Remove the temporary battery box before playing, and remove the pull tab from the battery compartment under your Tobi™ Friend.
  • After approximately two minutes of inactivity, your Tobi™ Friend will enter sleep mode. Wake it up by pressing the button on its head.
  • Ensure the switch under your Tobi™ Friend is moved to the OFF (O) position after use to conserve battery power.
  • If your Tobi™ Friend is not interacting properly, try turning off (O) and on (I) the unit again.
  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • Keep moisture away from the battery compartment.
  • Do not drop or throw your Tobi™ Friend, as it may irreparably damage the unit.

BATTERY SAFETY INFORMATION

  • Use only size “AG13” (LR44) alkaline batteries (6 required).
  • Charging of rechargeable batteries should only be done under adult supervision.
  • Remove rechargeable batteries from the product before recharging.
  • Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable batteries.
  • Be sure to insert the batteries correctly and follow the toy and battery manufacturer’s instruction.
  • Always remove exhausted or dead batteries from the product.
  • Dispose of dead batteries properly: do not burn or bury them.
  • Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
  • Avoid short-circuiting battery terminals.
  • Remove batteries before placing the unit into storage for a prolonged period of time.

WARNING:

This product contains a Button or Coin Cell Battery. A swallowed Button or Coin Cell Battery can cause internal chemical burns in as little as two hours and lead to death. Dispose of used batteries immediately. Keep new and used batteries away from children. If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT BUTTON BATTERIES

  • Swallowing may lead to serious injury in as little as 2 hours or death, due to chemical burns and potential perforation of the esophagus.
  • If you suspect your child has swallowed or inserted a button battery immediately call the 24-hour Poisons Information Centre on 13 1126 (Australia)/ your local emergency services for fast, expert advice.
  • Examine devices and make sure the battery compartment is correctly secured, e.g. that the screw or other mechanical fastener is tightened. Do not use if compartment is not secure.
  • Dispose of used button batteries immediately and safely. Flat batteries can still be dangerous.
  • Adults shall tell potential users about the risk of button batteries and keep their children away from button cell. Adult supervision is required.

WARNING: This toy produces ashes that may trigger epilepsy in sensitized individuals.
