IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

This document contains important safety and operating instructions. Please read these instructions carefully and save them for future reference.Before using the battery charger, read all the instructions and cautionary markings on (1) the charger, (2) battery, and (3) radio using the battery.

  1. To reduce risk of injury, charge only the rechargeable Motorola Solutions authorized batteries listed in Table 1, “Motorola Solutions Authorized Batteries,” on page 1. Other batteries may explode, causing injury and damage. Use of accessories not recommended by Motorola Solutions may result in risk of fire, electric shock, or injury.
  2. To reduce risk of damaging the electric plug and cord, pull the plug instead of the cord when disconnecting the charger.
  3. If the use of extension cord is unavoidable, make sure that the cord size is 18AWG for length up to 6.5ft and 16 AWG for length up to 9.8ft.
  4. To reduce risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, do not operate the charger if it has been broken or damaged in any way. Take it to a qualified Motorola Solutions service representative.
  5. Do not disassemble the charger; it is not repairable and replacement parts are not available.
  6. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug the charger from the AC outlet before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.

OPERATIONAL SAFETY GUIDELINES

  • Turn off the radio when charging the battery.
  • Use only in dry location/condition. Not suitable for outdoor use.
  • Ensure that the equipment is only connected to appropriate power supply with correct voltage as specified on the product.
  • Prevent foreign objects or fluids from getting into equipment.
  • If the equipment uses fuses, replacements must comply with the type and rating specified in the equipment instructions.
  • Maximum ambient temperature around the charger must not exceed 40ºC (104ºF).
  • Output power from the power supply unit must not exceed the ratings stated on the product label located at the bottom of the charger.
  • Ensure that the cord is located where it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or subjected to water, damage, or stress.
  • The AC outlet to which the power supply is connected must be nearby and easily accessible.

OPERATING INSTRUCTION

The charger pockets will accommodate either a radio with battery attached or battery alone. Prior to charging the battery with the radio, turn the radio off. Batteries charge best at room temperature. Refer to Table 1.

Charging Procedure

  1. Plug the power supply charger cord into the power receptacle located at the side of the charger.
  2. The charger lights up in a SINGLE GREEN FLASH once when the wall receptacle end of the power supply is plugged into an appropriate AC outlet.
  3. When the battery is properly inserted into the pocket, the charger indicator will illuminate in STEADY RED to indicate the battery is charging rapidly. When the battery is fully charged, charger indicator changes to STEADY GREEN. Refer to Table 2 on page 1 for more information.
  4. When the radio is properly slided into the charger pocket, see the radio indication for charging status. Ensure complete contact between the charger and radio contacts. Use both hands to remove a radio or battery from the charger pocket. One hand to hold and support the charger while the other hand to remove the radio or battery.

Troubleshooting

Normally, repositioning the battery pack will resolve the issue.Battery is either too warm, too cold or wrong power voltage is being used.

If there is no LED indication:

  1. Check if the radio with battery, or the battery alone is inserted correctly. (See “Charging Procedure”).
  2. Ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into the charger and an appropriate AC outlet is being used.
  3. Confirm the battery used with the radio is listed in Table 1.

SERVICEThe Single-Unit Charger is not repairable. Replacements should be ordered from your local dealer.
