Removing and Attaching the Battery Cover
To Remove: Slide the latch to the right to unlock the battery cover. Lift up the battery cover.
To Attach: Insert the bottom tabs of the battery cover into the slot. Press down the top part followed by the middle part of the battery cover. Slide the latch to the left to lock the battery cover.
Installing the Battery
Insert the bottom part of the battery into the compartment. Press down the top part of the battery into the compartment until it clicks onto the internal battery latch.
Holding the Radio
The radio has two microphones:
- A top microphone for simplex group, dispatcher, or private calls.
- A bottom microphone for duplex, telephone-like calls.
When making duplex calls (low audio), hold the radio as you would a telephone. Speak into the bottom microphone. Listen through the earpiece. Keep the antenna at least 2.5 cm from your head and body.
When making simplex calls (high audio), hold the radio in a vertical position with the top microphone5 cm to 10 cm away from your mouth. Speak into the top microphone. Listen through the radio internal speaker. Keep the antenna at least 2.5 cm from your head and body
Looking After the Radio
Never leave the radio or battery in extreme temperatures (over +85 °C). The radio is submersible (compliant with the IP67 standard, only when the battery cover and antenna are attached). To clean the radio, use a moistened orantistatic cloth. If the radio is accidentally immersed in solutions other than water, carefully rinse with clean water and tap the radio.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the seal label at the side of the radio (see Controls and Indicators, item 20) to avoid compromising the IP67 ingress protection.
Attaching the Antenna
Turn the radio off before attaching the antenna. Align the bottom part of the antenna to the threaded base on top of the radio. Turn clockwise until snug. Do not force.
Turning the Radio On or Off
To Turn On: Press and hold the Power button until the LED Status Indicator lights up.To Turn Off: Press and hold the Power button until the screen displaysPowering Off
Navigating the Radio MenuTo enter the menu, press the Menu/OK button.To scroll through the menu, press the Up or Down Navigation button.To scroll quickly through the menu, press and hold the Up or Down Navigation button.To select a menu item, press the Menu/OK button.To return to the previous level, press the Back button.
Selecting TMO or DMOEnable Trunked Mode Operation (TMO) or Direct Mode Operation (DMO) through the Customer Programming Software (CPS). From the home screen, enter the menu. Select Networks → Trunked Mode or Direct Mode.
Making TMO or DMO Group CallsEnter TMO or DMO. From the home screen, toggle the Talkgroup Rocker, or enter the menu and select Favorite TGs or TG Folders (if configured). Select the talk group (if configured). Press and hold PTT. Wait for the talk permit tone (if configured) and talk. Release PTT to listen.
Making TMO or DMO Emergency Group CallsEnter TMO or DMO. Press and hold the Emergency button. The emergency alarm is sent automatically (if configured). Press and hold PTT. Wait for the talk permit tone (if configured) and talk. Release PTT to listen. If using the Hot Mic feature, talk without pressing PTT. To exit the emergency mode, press and hold the Back button.
Making Simplex Private CallsIn DMO: From the home screen, enter the menu. Select My Contacts or Contacts (if configured). Select the targeted contact and contact number (if configured). Press and hold PTT to make the call. Wait for the talk permit tone (if configured) and talk. Release PTT to listen. Press the Back button to terminate the call.
Making Duplex Private, Phone, or PABX CallsFrom the Home Screen, enter the menu. Select My Contacts or Contacts (if configured). Select the targeted contact and contact number (if configured). Press and release the Menu/OK button to make the call. Wait for the called party to pick up and talk. Press the Back button to terminate the call.
Pairing the Radio with Bluetooth DevicesFrom the home screen, enter the menu. Select BT Settings → Add Device.Scroll to and select the targeted device from the list of scanned Bluetooth® devices.
