LAGUNA Reclining Shower & Toilet ChairPHS1000Assembly and Operation Manual

PREPARING FOR USE

Step 1. Remove parts from the package and arrange them on a flat surface for easy assembly.The Laguna will be in six parts: Chair frame, headrest, footrest, padded seat and two armrests.Four-bolt and knob sets are included for fastening the chair assembly along with a pail and lid.

Step 2. Place chair frame (A) on floor. To avoid unnecessary movement during assembly, press the brakes on the wheels to lock the four casters.

Step 3. Place the seat frame (C) into the black inserts on the inner part of the chair frame.The padded seat (D) may be installed by snapping it on the top of seat frame.

Step 4. Install a bolt and knob set (G) by inserting a bolt through the hole of the black plastic insert of seat frame and tighten with a knob. Repeat on other 3 inserts of frame.

Step 5. Attach the armrest (B) to the side of the chair frame. Place the bolt through the armrest and frame. To secure the arm tighten the knob. Repeat on the opposite side.

Step 6. Insert the front base foot bar (I) into the black inserts on the lower base of the chair frame until the gold spring tension buttons click into place.

Step 7. Insert footrest (E) into the support bar on the inside base of the chair frame, making sure the gold spring tension button clicks into place. Repeat on the opposite side. The footrest will be able to fold up and down.NOTE: Always ensure each gold spring tension button is properly locked in place.

Step 8. Remove the pail lid and slide pail under the seat frame.

Step 9. Insert headrest (F) into the tube on back of chair frame, adjust to the suitable height and tighten in place with knob. The headrest can be adjusted to the desired height position by loosening the knob, adjusting and retightening.

The Laguna is now ready for use.

Operation Instructions

Transferring the User in the Laguna Shower Chair:

  1. Wheel the Laguna shower chair as close to the user as possible and lock the casters. Never perform a transfer without first locking the casters.
  2.  For lateral transfers, remove an armrest to position the user onto the Laguna seat then reattach the armrest.
  3. If performing a standing transfer, flip up the footrests and back the user onto the shower seat.
  4. Assist the user onto the Laguna by gently resting them onto the seat. Once the user is seated flip the footrests down and place their feet on the footrests. Be sure both armrests are level for user safety and comfort.
  5.  Bring the chest safety belt around the front of the user and fasten for added security.
  6. The casters can now be unlocked for transport into a shower or designated bath area.
  7. The Laguna can be reclined during showering for a more comfortable position. To recline, gently lift the silver knob behind the backrest. Release the silver knob to lock the backrest into place. Casters should be locked for showering.
  8. When showering is complete, return the Laguna backrest to its most upright position, unlock the casters and transport the user to the desired area.

Exiting the User from the Laguna Shower Chair:

  1. Make sure the casters are locked before assisting a user out of the Laguna shower chair.
  2.  Bring the user to an upright position by pulling up on the silver knob to lift back support.Release the knob to lock in the upright position.
  3. Remove one armrest, if performing a lateral transfer.
  4.  Unbuckle the chest strap.
  5.  If standing the user while exiting, have the user raise their feet and flip the footrests upright.Place the user’s feet on the floor and assist them to a standing position.
  6. Gently assist the user out of the Laguna shower chair and to their desired location.
  7. Store the Laguna in its designated storage area and lock the casters during storage.

Cleaning Instructions:

The shower seat can be disinfected by spraying it with any standard non‐abrasive hospital-grade hard surface disinfectant. Gently wipe the disinfectant onto the surface using a soft towel or cloth and let sit for 10 minutes.Rinse the shower seat making sure all disinfectant has been removed.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

  • NEVER use this device with individuals who are severely mentally, cognitively, physically vision compromised.
  •  NEVER leave a compromised user unattended.
  • ALWAYS attach a safety belt and adjust it to a snug fit around the user’s chest.
  • NEVER exceed the maximum weight capacity of 330 lbs.
