- Before using for the first time please ensure that your electricity supply is the same as shown on the rating label on the underside of the appliance. If you have any concerns please contact your local electricity company.
- Remove and safely discard any packaging materials before first use.
- To eliminate a choking hazard for young children, safely discard the protective cover fitted to the power plug.
- Position the appliance on a stable, heat resistant, level, dry surface away from the edge and do not operate on or near a heat source such as a hot plate, oven or gas hob.
- Do not use on a cloth-covered surface, near curtains, or other flammable materials.
- A fire may occur if the toaster is covered or touching flammable materials, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation.
- Curtains and other flammable items can catch fire if they are near or above the toaster.
- While toasting, the bread may burn. Therefore do not use the toaster near or below combustible material, such as curtains.
- Do not allow hot surfaces of the toaster to come in contact with countertops or tables.
- Do not place the toaster on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or where it could touch any other source of heat.
WE RECOMMEND SAFETY FIRST
- This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
- When operating the toaster, keep a minimum distance of 10cm of space from the surrounding sides and 20cm above.
- Sage® does not recommend placing the toaster in enclosed areas.
- Do not use the toaster on a sink drainboard.
- Do not move toaster while in operation.
- Avoid contact with moving parts.
- Do not use harsh abrasive, caustic cleaners or oven cleaners when cleaning the toaster.
- Always ensure the toaster is properly assembled before use. Follow the instructions provided in this book.
- Ensure that bread to be toasted is the correct size for the toaster and does not protrude above the toasting slots. Ensure the bread is not too thick or long that it will jam or wedge the bread carriage.
- Do not place toast directly on top of toasting slots to warm toast as this may prevent correct air circulation and damage the appliance.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Toaster surfaces are hot during and after the operation. To prevent burns or personal injury, always use protective hot pads or insulated oven mitts, or use handles or knobs where available.
- Metal utensils such as a knife, should not be inserted into the toaster to remove jammed toast, bagels, or any other items from the toaster. This can damage the heating elements as well as lead to electrocution.
- Do not attempt to dislodge food when the toaster is plugged in.
- Oversized foods, metal foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted into the toaster as they may cause a fire or risk of electric shock.
- Do not use the toaster without the slide-out crumb tray in place. Do not allow crumbs to build up in the crumb tray. Failure to clean the crumb tray regularly may result in a fire hazard.
- To turn the toaster off, remove the power plug from the power outlet.
- Always ensure the appliance is turned OFF, unplugged at the power outlet, and has been allowed to cool before cleaning, attempting to move, or storing.
- Always turn the appliance to the OFF position, switch off at the power outlet and unplug at the power outlet when the appliance is not in use.
- Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off and touch electrical parts, creating a shock hazard.
- Strictly follow the care and cleaning instructions described in this book.
- The use of attachments not sold or recommended by Sage® may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
FOR ALL ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
- Fully unwind the power cord before operating.
- Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a bench or table, touch hot surfaces, or become knotted.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended when in use.
- The appliance can be used by children aged 8 years or older and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and knowledge, only if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
- Children should not play with the appliance.
- Cleaning of the appliance should not be carried out by children unless they are 8 years or older and supervised.
- The appliance and its cord should be kept out of reach of children aged 8 years and younger.
- Any maintenance other than cleaning should be performed by an authorized Sage® service center.
- Do not use the appliance if the power cord, power plug, or appliance becomes damaged in any way. If damaged or maintenance other than cleaning is required, please contact Sage Customer Service or go to sageappliances.com.
- This appliance is for household use only. Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use. Do not use in moving vehicles or boats. Do not use outdoors. Misuse may cause injury.
NOTE This toaster is electronically controlled and will not operate until the toaster is plugged into a 220240 volt power point and switched on.
The symbol shown indicates that this appliance should not be disposed of in the normal household waste. It should be taken to a local authority waste collection center designated for this purpose or to a dealer providing this service. For more information, please contact your local council office.

OPERATING YOUR NEW APPLIANCE
- Insert the power plug into a 220 240V power outlet then turn the power on.BEFORE FIRST USEWe suggest toasting on the maximum setting without bread. The toaster may emit a thin smoke or distinct odor on initial use. This is normal and not detrimental to the performance of the toaster.
- Place 1 slice of bread into each of the toasting slots.
- Select the desired browning setting by adjusting the browning control slide on the front of the toaster.
- To start the toasting process, press the TOAST / CANCEL button.
- The A Quick LookTM button can be pressed up until 10 seconds before the end of the toasting cycle to view the browning of the bread.
- Once the toasting cycle has completed and the carriage has risen and locked into the raised position, the toast-ready alert will sound.
NOTEToasting can be stopped at any time by pressing the TOAST / CANCEL button.
A BIT MORETM SETTING
To use this feature during the toasting cycle:The A BIT MORETM button surround will illuminate in white when selected. The toasting time will automatically increase but will not illuminate more of the LED toasting progress indicator. A BIT MORETM function can be canceled by pressing the A BIT MORETM button again and the original toasting cycle will continue.
To use this feature after the toasting cycle has completed:The A BIT MORETM button surround will illuminate in white when selected. The carriage will automatically lower and begin the additional toasting time. The LED toasting progress indicator will automatically align with the lowest browning setting then flash and count down for the additional browning time.NOTEThe A BIT MORETM button can be used with the TOAST, CRUMPET / FRUIT LOAF, and FROZEN functions.
CRUMPET / FRUIT LOAF BUTTONTo toast crumpets
- Place the crumpets into the toasting slots with crumpet tops facing inwards as per the crumpet markings on the top cover plate above the center elements of the toaster.
- To select the CRUMPET setting, press the CRUMPET / FRUIT LOAF button once and the button will illuminate white.
To toast bagels:The CRUMPET / FRUIT LOAF setting can also be used to toast bagels. Place the bagel center into the toasting slots with the bagel facing inwards. Start toasting with CRUMPET / FRUIT LOAF turned on.
OPERATING YOUR NEW APPLIANCE
FRUIT LOAF SETTINGTo toast fruit loaf:
- To select the FRUIT LOAF setting, press the CRUMPET / FRUIT LOAF button twice and the blue button will illuminate.
- Press the TOAST / CANCEL button which will then light up in red.
FROZEN BUTTONTo toast frozen bread:Press the TOAST / CANCEL button and the surround will illuminate in red then press the FROZEN button and the surround will illuminate in white. The bread will automatically lower into the toasting slots. The toasting time will automatically increase.
A QUICK LOOKTM BUTTONThis feature automatically raises and lowers the carriage so you can check progress without interrupting and/or canceling the toasting cycle.
CARE AND CLEANING
- Switch the toaster off at the power outlet and then remove the power plug from the power outlet. Allow the toaster to cool completely before cleaning.
- To clean any crumbs from the toaster, remove the crumb tray (located under the control panel at the front of the toaster) by pulling it outwards. Empty and replace the crumb tray before using the toaster again. Replace the crumb tray by sliding it inwards until it locks into position.
- To remove any additional crumbs, turn the toaster upside down over a bin and shake crumbs free.
- Wipe the outside of the toaster with a slightly dampened soft cloth and then dry it with a soft dry cloth to dry completely.
NOTEDo not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts creating an electric shock hazard.
STORAGE
Switch the toaster off at the power outlet and remove the power plug from the power outlet. Allow the toaster to cool completely before storing. Follow the directions for cleaning and store in an upright position on a flat surface on a benchtop or in an accessible cupboard. Do not store anything on top of the toaster.
