Your Sennheiser IE 900

For the most sophisticated audiophiles, the search for the ultimate sound is a ceaseless quest for perfection. Inspired by this passion, Sennheiser developed the IE 900, the new flagship of their in-ear headphone range, which sets new standards in audio fidelity. From the exquisite one-piece metal housing, to an improved version of the acclaimed 7 mm XWB transducer, to the conductive properties of the sound channel: Every aspect, no matter how small, was considered to make Sennheiser’s extensive acoustic know-how audible in these in-ears. The new acoustic design features an enhanced voice coil, which optimizes performance at high frequencies for a brilliant, natural sound reproduction. Natural resonances and harmonic distortions are minimized by an optimized membrane foil. The result of the numerous refinements is an exceptionally natural sound reproduction to satisfy even the most discerning audio enthusiast.

The IE 900 is manufactured to tightest production tolerances at Sennheiser’s headquarters in Germany by a specialist team. Every transducer is fully tested twice – first individually and then together after the right and left earphones have been hand-selected in pairs. The transducers of the right and left earphones are carefully selected to optimally match with each other. This passion for detail is also reflected in the pro-audio inspired premium design. Each earphone housing is precision-milled from a single block of high-quality aluminum to ensure the highest audio quality while offering exceptional durability.

The IE 900 also provides outstanding connectivity with high-quality Fidelity+ MMCX connections and a choice of connection cables with 3.5 mm and balanced 2.5/4.4mm jack plugs. The ergonomic design includes individually adjustable ear hooks and a choice of ear adapters in different sizes for a perfectly secure fit. The cable is made of flexible material while the cable design allows the cable to fall naturally and, at the same time, significantly reduces structure-borne noise compared to standard cables. Thanks to the outstanding wearing comfort, the IE 900 is ideal for long listening sessions of unadulterated music enjoyment.

Selecting The Ear Adapter and Inserting The Earphones into The Ears

The perceived sound quality including bass performance and the reduction of ambient noise depends to a large extent on the correct fit of the earphones in the ears. Figure out which ear adapter type and size suits you best in terms of both sound quality and wearing comfort.

  •  Mount the ear adapters to the earphones until they lock into place. You can choose between 2 lock-in positions.

Silicone

  • Select ear adapters of the correct size(S, M or L) so that the earphones sit comfortably and securely in your ears.

Visco Memory FoamThe ear adapters made of Visco foam adapt optimally to the ear canal due to the expansion of the memory foam.

  • Select ear adapters of the correct size (S, M or L) and roll the ear adapters between your fingers until they are small. Insert the earphones into the ears and hold the earphones for at least 15 seconds so that the compressed Visco foam can expand and the earphones sit snuggly in your ears.

Ear Hooks

  • To provide strain relief for the cables, the cables are guided over the ears. You can carefully bend the ear hooks so that they fit comfortably and securely, even if you wear glasses, for example.
  • Insert the earphones into the ears. Observe the markings “R” (right; with additional red ring) and “L” (left; with additional tactile dots) for correct assignment.
Selecting and Connecting The Connection Cable

Stereo Jack Plug on the Device

  • 2.5 mm, balanced signal transmission, 4- pin
  • 3.5 mm, unbalanced signal transmission, 3- pin
  • 4.4 mm, balanced signal transmission, 5- pin

MMCX Connectors on The Earphones

  • Hold the earphones firmly and pull the connectors straight out of the sockets by overcoming a slight resistance. Always grasp the connectors by the connector housing and do not pull on the cable!
  • When connecting, make sure that the markings “R” (right) and “L” (left) on the connectors match the earphones. The right ear canal phone is marked with a red ring and the left ear canal phone is marked with a tactile dot. Insert the connectors until they lock into place.

Cleaning The Earphones

For reasons of hygiene, the ear adapters should be replaced from time to time. (The Visco memory foam ear adapters only have a durability of a few months due to their material properties). Spare parts are available from your Sennheiser partner. To find a Sennheiser partner in your country, search at www.sennheiser.com.

  • Clean the product only with a soft, dry cloth.
  • You can clean the ear adapters under lukewarm running water. Remove the foam pins before cleaning. Let the ear adapters and foam pins dry at room temperature for at least 12 hours before reassembling them and reattaching them to the earphones.
  • To clean the sound channel grilles, use the cleaning tool (supplied) to carefully and lightly scrape over the grilles to remove dirt. Loosen the dirt without piercing the grilles.
