Precautions
General
Please ensure that the equipment is positioned in a well ventilated area and ensure that there is a freespace along the sides, top and back of the equipment as below.

The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc.No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.Attention should be drawn to the environmental aspects of battery disposal.Use the unit on a firm, level surface free from vibration.Keep the unit away from direct sunlight, strong magnetic fields, excessive dust, humidity and electronic/ electrical equipment (home computers, facsimiles, etc.) which generate electrical noise.Do not place anything on top of the unit.Do not expose the unit to moisture, to temperatures higher than 60°C (140°F) or to extremely low temperatures.If the unit does not work properly, unplug and plug it in again. Then turn it on.
In case of an electrical storm, unplug the unit for safety. Hold the AC power plug by the head when removing itfrom the wall socket, as pulling the lead can damage internal wires. The AC power plug is used as a disconnect device and shall always remain readily operable.Do not remove the outer cover, as this may result in electric shock. Placing the systemInstallation image: TVSound Bar
Notes: The front panel of the sound bar is not removable. The maximum transmission distance of the wireless sig-nal between the subwoofer and sound bar is about 10 metres (32 feet), but may vary depending on your operating environment. If a steel-concrete or metallic wall is between the subwoofer and the sound bar, the system may not operate at all, because the wireless signal cannot penetrate metal.Caution: Do not change the installation direction when the soundbar is turned on. Do not stand or sit on the sound bar and subwoofer asyou may be injured. Do not allow any objects to fall into or to be placed in thebass reflex duct.

Falling preventionSafety wires (not supplied) are useful to prevent the sound bar from falling off.Loop the safety wires (not supplied) into each hole as shown and tie the safety wires to the TV stand.
Sound bar preparationYou may change the stand if the legs of the front speakers are short and the TV stand interferes with this unit, you can increase the height by replacing it with the included long stand.Using the short stand1 Remove the stand as shown. Note: In case the stand is too tight to be removed, please use a suitable cloth to prevent slip while removing it.
When removing the stand from sound bar, place the sound bar on a cushion or soft cloth to avoid damage.
2 Tighten all the stand as shown.

Sound bar preparation (continued)IR (Infrared) transmitter connectionIf the TV’s remote sensor is blocked by the sound bar, use the IR transmitter to relay the signal to the TV. 1 Connect the IR transmitter to IR out terminal to allow the TV’s remote signal to pass through. 2 Place the infrared emitter near TV’s remote sensor (refer the operation manual of the TV for the location of the sen-sor ). 3 Point the TV’s remote control at the sound bar remote sensor and operate the TV. You may need to move the IRtransmitter until the TV operates correctly. 4 Then secure the IR transmitter onto the sound bar using the double sided tape provided.Note: Do not use the IR transmitter if the TV’s remote control sensor is not blocked by the sound bar. The IR transmitter does not work during AC power off. The IR transmitter may not work properly while the sound bar in the eco mode.2

This sound bar supports HDMI which enables ARC (Audio Return Channel).
To enable ARC make sure to use High Speed (category 2 with Ethernet) HDMITM cable (with ARC).
This ARC feature requires TV that supports ARC. Refer the operation manual of the TV to determine which terminal supports ARC.
To listen to the sound from a non-ARC-compatible TV, connect the audio output from TV to this system’s. (refer figure above)
This sound bar can be operated (power on/off or volume up/down) via a TV or similar component which supports HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control). If this does not work, it does not mean this system is faulty. Refer to the operation manual of the respective component on how to activate the CEC.
Example: Go to the Menu of the component to search and enable the CEC. Different brands may have different naming for the CEC. For SHARP LCD TV, it is named as AQUOS LINK.
The system will automatically power off if TV or similar component which supports HDMI CEC, is turned off.
CEC is not available during Low power consumption mode (Eco mode on).
To listen to the sound from this system, you will need to press
(refer page 16) or adjust the speaker
output settings within the TV menu. For details, refer to the operation manual of the TV.
If you are unable to select external speaker setting from the TV menu (E.g. For SHARP LCD TV, it is named as
AQUOS AUDIO SP), turn the CEC OFF and ON again.
To enjoy 3D images or 4K content, this system must be connected to a 3D or 4K-compatible TV and components (3D BD player, etc.) via High Speed HDMI cables. Put on the 3D glasses (for 3D-compatibile TV and components), otherwise 3D images or 4K content may not be viewed properly.

Remote controlBattery installation1 Open the battery cover. 2 Insert the batteries according to the terminal indicated inthe battery compartment. When inserting or removing the batteries, push them towards the () battery terminals. 3 Close the cover.
Caution: Replace all old batteries with new ones at the sametime. Do not mix old and new batteries. Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for along period of time. This will prevent potential damage due to battery leakage. Do not use rechargeable batteries (nickel-cadmium battery, etc.). Installing the batteries incorrectly may cause the unit to malfunction. Batteries (battery pack or batteries installed) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like. Notes concerning use: Replace the batteries if the operating distance is reduced or if the operation becomes erratic. Purchase 2 “AAA” size batteries (UM/SUM4, R3, HP-16 or similar). Periodically clean the transmitter on the remote control and the sensor on the unit with a soft cloth. Exposing the sensor on the unit to strong light may interfere with operation. Change the lighting or the direction of the unit. General controlMake sure to enable the HDMI CEC when making HDMI connection. Notes: If a device such as microwave oven, wireless LAN card,Bluetooth device or any other device that uses the same 2.4GHz frequency is placed near the system, some sound interruption may be heard due to interference. The maximum transmission distance of the wireless signal between the subwoofer and sound bar is about 10 metres (32 feet), but may vary depending on your operating environment. If a steel-concrete or metallic wall is between the subwoofer and the sound bar, the system may not operate at all, because the wireless signal cannot penetrate metal. Please check that the volume level of the subwoofer is set to your preference. This system has a surround function compatible with Dolby Atmos.Caution: Keep the subwoofer away from water and moisture. To get the optimum listening performance, make surethe area around the sound bar and subwoofer is clear of any obstacles.
Pairing with the SubwooferThe sound bar and subwoofer will link automatically (wirelessly) when turned on as it is already pre-linked at the factory.

To remove USB memory device1 Turn off the sound bar. 2 Unplug USB memory device from the USB terminal.Notes: SHARP will not be held liable for the loss of data whilethe USB memory device is connected to the audio system. This USB memory’s format supports FAT 32. SHARP cannot guarantee that all USB memory devices will work on this audio system. USB cable is not recommended for use in this audio system to connect to USB memory device. Use of the USB cable will affect the performance of this audio system. This USB memory cannot be operated via USB hub. The USB terminal in this unit is not intended for a PC connection but is used for music streaming with a USB memory device. External HDD-storage cannot be played back via USB terminal. If the data inside the USB memory is large, it may take longer time for the data to be read. This product can play MP3, FLAC, WAV files. It will automatically detect the file type being played. If unplayable file is played on this product, the file will be automatically skipped. This will take a few seconds. This product relates to USB mass storage devices. It may however face some irregularities due to various unforeseen reasons from some devices. Should this happen, turn off the unit and then turn it on again. Maximum total number supported for files is 999. However, it is advisable to playback a media with a small amount of files to maximise playability.Repeat/Random play (remote control)Repeat play can play one track or all tracks. The tracks on the device can be played in randomorder automatically. Press the REPEAT button to select:To repeat one track.To repeat all tracks.To random play.To turn off the repeat and random play modes. Notes: If you press the button during random play, you can move to the track selected next by the random operation. On the other hand, the button does not allow you to move to the previous track. Listening to Bluetooth enabled devices
BluetoothBluetooth wireless technology is a short-range radio technology that enables wireless communication between various types of digital devices, such as mobile phone or computer. It operates within a range of about 10 meters without the hassle of having to use cables to connect these devices. This unit supports the following: Communication System: Bluetooth Specification version 2.1 Bluetooth + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). Support Profile : A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) and AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile)Notes when using unit with a mobile phone This unit cannot be used to talk over the telephone evenwhen there is a Bluetooth connection made to a mobile phone. Bluetooth devices need to be initially paired first before they can exchange data. This unit can memorise up to a maximum of 8 devices. Once paired, it is not necessary to pair them again unless: pairing is made with more than 8 devices. Pairing canonly be made one device at a time. If subsequent device is paired, the oldest device paired will be deleted and replaced with the new one. this unit is reset. All pairing information is deleted when unit is reset.

Pairing with Bluetooth source devices1 Press the button on the sound bar or ON-STANDBY button on the remote control to turn the power on.2 Press the button on the sound bar repeatedly orthe BLUETOOTH button on the remote control. “BT” appears on the display.3 Press the button on the sound bar or PAIRINGbutton on the remote control. “PAIRING” appears on the display.4 Perform pairing procedure on the source device todetect this unit. “8A-C22CX1 SHARP” will appear in the detected devices list (if available) in the source device. (Refer the source device operating manual for details). Notes: Place the devices to be paired within 1 meter ofeach other when pairing. Some source devices are unable to display lists ofdetected devices. To pair this unit with the source device, refer to the source device operating manual for details.5 Select “8A-C22CX1 SHARP” from the source list. IfPasscode* is required, enter “0000”. * Passcode may be called PIN Code, Passkey, PINnumber or Password.6 “PAIRED” appears on the display for 3 secondsonce the unit is successfully paired with the source device. (Pairing information is now memorised in the unit.) Some audio source devices may connect with the unit automatically after pairing is completed, otherwise follow the instructions in the source device operating manual to start connection.7 Press the / button on the remote control or sourcedevice to start Bluetooth streaming playback.Notes: If a device such as microwave oven, wireless LAN card,Bluetooth device or any other device that uses the same 2.4 GHz frequency is placed near the system some sound interruption may be heard. The transmission distance of the wireless signal between the device and the main unit is about 10 m, but may vary depending on your operating environment. If a steel concrete or metallic wall is between the device and the main unit, the system may not operate at all, because the wireless signal cannot penetrate metal. If this unit or the source device is turned off before Bluetooth connection is completed, pairing will not be completed and the pairing information will not be memorised. Repeat step 1 onwards to start pairing again. To pair with other devices, repeat steps 1 – 5 for each device. This unit can memorise up to a maximum of 8 devices. If subsequent device is paired, the oldest device paired will be deleted. Once a device is ousted or deleted from the pairing list, the pairing information for the device is also deleted. To listen to the sound from the device again, it needs to be re-paired. Perform steps 1 – 5 to pair the device again.

Kajima Technical Research Institute has a wealth of experience in architectural acoustics, such as the design of concert halls and music studios. The Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton is a world leader in acoustics and conducts cutting edge research in many areas of the field. The OPSODIS technology is capable of virtually realising spatial sound and was originally used to study the acoustic performance of architectural spaces during the design stage. The sound bar home theater system uses the OPSODIS technology to accurately simulate many three-dimensional audio formats commonly used in TV, cinema and gaming.

Condensation can cause the sound bar to malfunction. If this happens, leave the power on until normal playback is possible (about 1 hour).
