ULINE Anti-Static Mat User Guide

ULINE Anti-Static Mat

USE AND CARE

INITIAL MAT USE AND STORAGE
  1. Unroll mat within a few days of receipt. Let mat lay for 24 hours at room temperature before using. If the mat will not lie flat, move to a warm area. Heat will cause the vinyl mats to become more pliable and lay flat more quickly.
  2. To store mats, roll them up and store lengthwise in a dry area at moderate temperature.

CAUTION! Do not stand on edge or crush.

NOTE: Regular maintenance of your mat is critical to extend mat life and appearance. It is recommended a regular maintenance schedule be followed. Frequency will depend on traffic and soil conditions.

MAINTENANCE
  1. Shake Out Or Sweep Daily – Daily shake dirt and debris or sweep with a broom to remove surface dirt. Sweep the area underneath the mat before replacing it to remove any dirt or debris that could cause premature wear and reduce slip hazard.
  2. Hose Or Damp Mop Weekly – Mats can be washed off with a hose or pressure washer, or damp mopped with a non-abrasive, water-based detergent. Let the mat dry completely before allowing foot traffic to resume.

CAUTION! Do not use rotary scrubbers, vacuums or any other mechanical cleaners or scrubbers to clean. Do not use solvents, pH detergents or alkalis directly on the mat or use the mat in areas where these are used.

PERIODIC INSPECTION

Periodic inspection is recommended to check for tears. To repair a damaged area, glue the section together with cyanoacrylate ester type (super glue) adhesive.

INSTALLATION

  1. Fasten the ground cord to the most convenient snap fastener.
  2. Check the fit of the floor mat. Place the floor mat in front of the equipment so anyone approaching the area must first come in contact with the mat. CAUTION! The mat must not come in contact with the conductive table legs or any other parallel path to the ground that does not have a current-limiting resistor.
  3. Unwind just enough ground cord to reach a suitable building ground. A ground cord can be fastened to a grounded wall outlet first by shutting off the power to such outlet and then removing the cover plate and attaching to one of the screws holding the receptacle box. Remove only one screw. NOTE: Do not remove receptacle from the box.For personnel unfamiliar with making electrical connections, it is recommended that the ground connections be done by an electrician.
  4. It is important to make proper ground connections to prevent personal shock in the unlikely event that the mat is accidentally electrified. Use only cords supplied with the mat. Take care not to short-circuit the ground cord or floor mat by bringing the mat into contact with a hard ground.
  5. Installation is now complete.

NOTE: Electrical continuity should be checked between the floor mat snap terminal and ground.
