SAFETY

NOTE: Before installing and using a dehumidifier, read these instructions carefully. Store in a safe place for future reference.

  • Always place the unit on a level surface.
  • Never use or store gasoline or other flammable vapor or liquid near the unit.
  • Maintain 12-18″ clearance around unit.Do not block or cover air inlet or outlet grilles.
  • Unit must be connected to a correctly grounded power supply.
  • Do not start or stop unit by inserting or pulling out power plug.
  • Do not use an adapter plug or extension cord.
  • Do not use near a bathtub, shower or swimming pool.
  • Do not insert anything into the air outlet. Do not obstruct air inlet or outlet grilles.
  • Do not let children play near unit.
  • Always inspect cord for signs of damage before use.If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a manufacturer or a qualified service technician.
  • When cleaning, always turn unit off and unplug the power cord.
  • Recommended humidity levels:Spring/Summer: 35% – 45%Fall/Winter: 45% – 55%
  • During normal operation, the dehumidifier will exhaust warm air from the top of unit.
  • Emptying the bucket depends on how many pints of moisture the dehumidifier removes from the air. The number of times the bucket will be emptied depends on the unit’s model number. Emptying should be completed at full capacity.

  • Using a dehumidifier will balance the humidity level in the room, creating a more comfortable space. Over time, this humidity level stabilizes, resulting in less moisture accumulating in the air. As moisture level decreases, the dehumidifier will not need to collect as much moisture as seen in the previous operations.

NOTE: Do not be concerned if the dehumidifier is removing less moisture from the air or the bucket is taking longer to fill. The dehumidifier is working as intended and creating a more stable humidity level. NOTE: There may be a small amount of water present in the bucket before using the dehumidifier for the first time. This is caused by preliminary factory testing.

  2. Power On and Off – Press the power button once to manually turn on the unit. Press the power button once more to turn off the unit.
  3. Humidity Selection – Press the or buttons to choose desired humidity in the room. Each button press will change desired room humidity by 5%.The room humidity is selectable from 35-80% or continuous. The unit will cycle on and off to maintain chosen humidity level. If the dehumidifier is to operate continuously regardless of room humidity, press the mode button until “” is displayed. This will enable the continuous operation and the continuous indicator will light up on the control panel.
  4. Fan Speed Control – Press the fan speed button to cycle through different fan speeds: quiet, high and low. Fan speed can be visually distinguished by the fan speed indicators on the control panel. For fast dehumidification, choose high. For moderate dehumidification, choose low. For quiet operation, choose quiet.
  5. Timer Auto On – To program unit to automatically turn on, press the Timer button when unit is off.Press or to increase or decrease the timer in 30-minute increments up to 10 hours. After 10 hours, each press of the or buttons will increase timer in one-hour increments up to 24 hours. Once desired time is reached, unit will automatically turn on.

Press the mirage button to turn on the mirage display and once again to turn off mirage display.NOTE: Fan will continue to run when the compressor is off. This allows unit to circulate air and operate more efficiently.
  10.  Bucket Full – When water bucket is full, unit will automatically shut off, beep and the bucket full indicator will light up. Unit will not function until the water bucket is emptied and placed back into unit. The bucket should be cleaned every few weeks to prevent growth of mold, mildew and bacteria. Use a mild detergent to clean the bucket. Once clean,  completely dry bucket and replace in unit.NOTE: Hold bucket with both hands when emptying. (See Figure 1)

NOTE: When the water bucket is full or removed from a dehumidifier, the compressor will turn off, but fan may continue to run for a few minutes. A dehumidifier will not be removing  moisture from the air at this time. When removing moisture from the air, the dehumidifier will exhaust warm air from top exhaust vent. Do not place a full bucket on floor because the  bottom of bucket is uneven.

LOCATIONA dehumidifier operating in a basement will have little or no effect on drying an adjacent enclosed storage area, such as a closet unless there is adequate circulation of air in and out of the area.

  • Do not use outdoors. For indoor use only.
  • Place on a smooth, level surface strong enough to support unit with full bucket of water.
  • Allow at least 18″ of air flow on all sides. (See Figure 2)
  • Place in an area where the temperature will not fall below 41°F. Coils can become covered with frost at temperatures below 41°F, which may reduce performance.
  • Use in areas that have excessive moisture such as entryways, bathrooms, basements and laundry rooms. NOTE: Place unit away from a clothes dryer.
  • Use to prevent moisture damage anywhere books or valuables are stored.
  • Use the dehumidifier in a basement to help prevent moisture damage.
  • Operate in an enclosed area to be most effective.

AUTOMATIC DEFROSTWhen frost builds up on evaporator coils, compressor will cycle off and fan will continue to run until frost disappears. When coils are completely defrosted, the compressor will automatically restart and dehumidification will begin.CONTINUOUS DRAINAGEGARDEN HOSE INSTALLATION AND SETUPAttach a garden hose (not included) to a continuous drainage port on back of the dehumidifier. This will allow unit to run continuously (depending on selected humidity level)  without having to empty water bucket.

  1.  Place on a level surface.
  2.  Unscrew cap on back of unit to access hose nozzle.
  3. Thread garden hose onto the accessible nozzle, lead to a floor drain and cut to length.
  4. Ensure no kinks or knots are in hose.
  5. Turn on unit. Press mode button until set to continuous.

NOTE: Placing a dehumidifier on an uneven surface or improperly installing hose may result in water filling bucket and causing unit to shut off. Empty bucket if shut-off occurs,  check dehumidifier location and hose for proper setup. The bucket must be in place and securely seated for the dehumidifier to operate.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING! Ensure power is off and the power cord is not plugged into an electrical outlet prior to performing any maintenance on unit.CLEANING/REPLACING FILTER WARNING! Do not operate the dehumidifier without the included filter. The clean filter indicator will illuminate every 250 hours of operation as a reminder to clean the filter.  A clean filter will keep unit operating at optimum performance.

Bucket is not installed properly. Bucket must be in place and securely seated for dehumidifier to operate.
Power failure. A protective time delay (up to three minutes) prevents tripping of the compressor overload. For this reason, the unit may not start normaldehumidification for three minutes after powered back on.
OPERATING ISSUE CAUSES RECOMMENDATIONS
Dehumidifier does not remove adequate moisture from the dr. Not enough time Glowed for unit to remove moisture. When first listened. allow at least 24 hours to maintain the desired dryness.
Airflow is restricted. Ensure there ore no curtains. blinds or furniture blocking front or back of unit. See the Location section on Paged.
Dirty filter. See Cleoning/Replacing Filter on Page 5.

Doors and windows may not be closed tightly Check that all doors. windows and other openings are securely closed.
Clothes dryer may be blowing moist at into the room. Install dehumidifier away from dryer. Dryer should be vented outside.
Room temperature is too low. Moisture removal is best at higher room temperatures. Lower room temperatures will reduce the moisture removal rate. This model is designed to operate at temperatures above 41°F.
Dehumidifier runs too much. Area to be dehumidified is too large. Capacity of the dehumidifier may not be adequate for room size or amount of moisture ki air.
Doors and windows are open. Close all doors and windows to the outside.
Frost appears on cab. Dehumidifier has recently been turned on or room temperature is below Alt This is normal. Frost wil usually disappear within 60 minutes.
