Getting Started

Install / Remove the Battery Pack
  1. To install the battery pack Lever the bottom of the battery into the bottom of the battery compartment and then fit the battery in until the release latch at the top locks into place.

To remove the battery pack

  1.  Make sure the radio is powered off.
  2. Push down on the release lever at the top of the battery and lever the battery away from the radio.

Always ensure the radio is powered off before removing the battery.

Attach / Remove the Belt Clip

To attach the belt clip:

  1. Align the belt clip over the 2 screw holes on the back of the battery pack.
  2. Use a suitable Philips screwdriver to fasten the 2 belt clip screws to the battery pack.

To remove the belt clip:

  1. Use a suitable Phillips screwdriver to loosen the 2 belt clip screws to release the belt clip from the battery pack.

Getting Started

Charging the Rechargeable Battery

Plug one end of the micro USB cable into the UH200 radio and the other end to the AC adaptor. Plug the AC adaptor into a 240VAC wall outlet.

  • The battery level percentage will display during charging.
  • The PTT LED indicator turns BLUE when charge is full.
  • Before operating the radio, charge the rechargeable battery pack for3 hours without interruption.
  • Do not transmit when the radio is charging.

Low Battery Alert

During normal use, if the battery level becomes low, the unit will go into a Battery Low Mode and a battery low tone will intermittently sound, with thePTT LED indicator intermittently flashing RED. The Transmit Mode is also disabled. Recharge the batteries.

Power Save

Your UH200 Series has a unique circuit designed to extend the life of the batteries. If there is no transmission nor an incoming call within a certain time, your Radio switches to the Power Save mode. The Radio is still able to receive transmissions in this mode.

Back Light

The UH200 has an automatic display back light which remains on for 5 seconds after the last activity.

Operation

Power ONPress and hold [ M ] / ( l ) to turn the radio on or off.

When the radio turns on:

  • The Battery level percentage will display momentarily.
  • The power on tone sounds and the PTT LED will flash BLUE/PURPLE.
  • The PTT LED will flash BLUE every 10 seconds to incicate power is on.

Power Off is not available when in MENU Mode. Exit from MENU Mode first and then attempt Power off.

Volume

Press [ + ] to increase the volume. Maximum volume level is 05.Press [ – ] to decrease the volume. Minimum volume level is 00.

To Transmit and Receive

The UH200 Series uses the UHF-CB Channels. Refer to page 13 for UHFchannel usage.

  • The transmit power of the UH200 Series is 2W in high power mode and 500mW in low power mode, see p4, Combination Keys (Standby Mode).
  • Before you transmit, listen for activity on the selected channel. The PTT LED lights up BLUE when there is a signal.
  • When the channel is clear, press and hold PTT to transmit. The PTT LED lights up RED during Transmit.Hold the radio with microphone approximately 5 cm in front of your mouth with the antenna at approximately 45°angle away from your head. Speak ina clear, normal conversational voice.
  • When you have finished release PTT. Listen for a response.For maximum range and extended the life of the batteries, avoid touching the antenna with your hand when transmitting.

Channels

The UH200 has 80 UHF CB Channels with selectable repeater channels for CH01-08 and CH41-48.To select a Channel

  • Press [ M ]. CH flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the channel between 01-80, and then press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

UHF CB Repeaters are used to retransmit or relay your signal. Repeaters will extend the range of your radio and overcome the shielding effect caused by solid obstructions. Repeater channels can be selected directly as CHr1-r8 (CH01-08 repeaters) and CHn1-n8 (CH41-48 repeaters). Contact your retailer for a list of repeaters available in your area.

Squelch

The squelch is used to eliminate any annoying background noise when there are no signals present.Sq 00 – max sensitivity (min squelch), Sq 09 – min sensitivity (max squelch)

To adjust the Squelch

  • Press [ M ] 2 times until S9 flashes on the display.\
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the setting between 00-09, and then press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

Operation | MENU Mode

CTCSS(Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System)CTCSS is a feature that allows a group to talk to each other without hearingother users on the same channel.

DCS(Digital Coded Squelch)DCS is a digital extension of CTCSS. It provides 104 extra, digitally coded squelch codes that follow after the 50 CTCSS codes. CTCSS 1-50 (displaysas ’01, ’02, ’03… ’50), followed by DCS 1-104 (displays as i01-i99 and id0-id4). Follow the steps for changing CTCSS code but select a DCS code as desired.

To use CTCSS or DCS

First select a desired channel

  • Press [ M ] 3 times until PS flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the setting between off, ’01-’50, i01- i99, and id0-id4 and then press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

Select off (oF) to turn CTCSS/DCS off for the selected channel.

Channels 05 and 35 are used for emergency channels. CTCSS and DCS will not operate on these two channels.

Operation | MENU Mode

SCAN

The UH200 has a Scan function which searches all the channels and frequencies in its memory continuously. The currently selected channel can be removed or added to the scan memory in SCAN Memory. To Start Scanning

  • Press [ M ] 4 times until SC flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to immediately start scanning. If an active channel is found, scanning will stop on that channel. To skip an active channel, press [ + ] or [ – ].To Cancel Scanning, press [ M ].

The factory has preprogrammed all the UHF-CB channels into the Scan channel memory. Use SCAN Memory to remove or add the current channel.

SCAN Memory

The currently selected Channel can be removed or added to the SCAN list with this selection.

To use SCAN Memory

  • Press [ M ] 5 times until Sn flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the setting between on or off, and then press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

VOX

VOX is Voice activated transmission, no pressing of the PTT key. For optimum performance, use VOX when the accessory earpiece is connected.When VOX is turned on (levels 1-10), the earpiece microphone is most sensitive at level 1, and least sensitive at level 10.

  • Press [ M ] 6 times until U flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the setting between off, 1-10, and then press & hold [ M ] to save

Operation | MENU Mode

Busy Channel Lockout (BCL)

This feature prevents accidental transmission on a busy channel. For example, BCL is used when CTCSS or DCS is selected to preventtransmission when the radio detects a transmission from another unit using the same CTCSS or DCS code.

To use BCL

  • Press [ M ] 7 times until bc flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the setting to on or off, and then press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

Call Tones

The UH200 is equipped with 10 selectable call tones that will be transmitted when you press & hold [ + ] in standby mode. To select a call tone

  • Press [ M ] 8 times until Ct flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the selection between off, 1-10. A sample of the call tone sounds when selected.
  • Press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

Current regulations require calling tones to be restricted to one transmission per minute. If a second transmission is attemptedwithin one minute then an error tone will sound.

Roger Beep

Roger Beep is a BEEP that is sent to notify the end of transmission. Roger Beep can be heard through the speaker when the Key Beep is on. RogerBeep is transmitted even if Key Beep is turned off.

To use roger beep

  • Press [ M ] 9 times until rb flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the setting to on or off, and then press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

Compander

The compander function can be activated to reduce background noise in some situations.To use compander

  • Press [ M ] 10 times until c flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the setting to on or off, and then press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

Vibrate

Turn on the Vibrate function if you want the radio to vibrate momentarilty when receiving an incoming signal.To use vibrate

  • Press [ M ] 11 times until ub flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the setting to on or off, and then press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

Vibration is limited to one vibration per minute to conserve battery usage.

Scramble

The scramble feature is a voice inversion function that provides additional privacy with your communication. The inversion frequency is 3400Hz.

To use scramble

  • Press [ M ] 12 times until Sb flashes on the display.
  • Then press [ + ] or [ – ] to change the setting to on or off, and then press & hold [ M ] to save the desired setting.

When scramble is enabled the radios you are comunicating with need to have scramble enabled to understand you.

UHF Channels and Frequencies

Always listen on a channel (or observe the receive signal level meter) to ensure it is not already being used before transmitting. Channels 5 and 35 are used for emergency channels. CTCSS will not operate on these channels. Please follow these guidelines for channel use in Australia:

  • Channels 05 and 35 are Emergency Channels.
  • Channel 11 is a Calling Channel.
  • Channels 22 and 23 are for telemetry and telecommand applications, channels 61, 62 and 63 are for future use and TX is inhibited on these channels. General communication is accepted on all other channels with these guidelines:
  • Channel 40 – road channel (Australia).
  • Channels 01-08 (and 31-38), and Channels 41-48 (and 71-78) are repeater channels.

Important information –

80 Channel UHF-CB channel expansion To provide all users additional channel capacity within the UHF-CB Band. The ACMA will change the majority of the current wideband 40 channel use to narrowband channel use. This allows for additional channels to be added, up to 80 Channels. This simply means that the new narrowband radio you have purchased will have more channels than older radios. Please refer to the guidelines above and the channel chart for further channel information. A list of currently authorised channels can also be obtained from the ACMA website in Australia and the MBIE website in New Zealand.

Interference / Poor Audio

When a new narrowband radio receives a signal from an older wideband radio the speech may sound loud. Narrowband radios operating on CH41 – CH80 may encounterinterference from nearby wideband radios transmitting on high power on an adjacent channel (frequency). When an older wideband radio receives a signal from a newnarrowband radio the speech may sound quiet – the wideband radio user simply adjusts their radio volume for best performance. The above situations are not a fault of the radio but a symptom of mixed wideband and narrowband radios in current use. It is expected that as older wideband radios are phased out this issue will be eliminated.

Warrantor: The warrantor is Uniden Australia Pty Limited ABN 58 001 865 498 (“Uniden“).

Terms of Warranty:

Uniden Aust warrants to the original retail purchaser only that the UH200 Series (“the Product”), will be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship for the duration of the warranty period, subject to the limitations and exclusions set out below.

Warranty period: This warranty to the original retail purchaser is only valid in the original country of purchase for a Product first purchased in either in Australia or NewZealand and will expire one (1) year from the date of the original retail sale.

If a warranty claim is made, this warranty will not apply if the Product is found by Uniden to be:

(A) Damaged or not maintained in a reasonable manner or as recommended in the relevant Uniden Owner’s Manual;(B) Modified, altered or used as part of any conversion kits, subassemblies or any configurations not sold by Uniden;(C) Improperly installed contrary to instructions contained in the relevant Owner’s Manual(D) Repaired by someone other than an authorized Uniden Repair Agent in relation to a defect or malfunction covered by this warranty; or(E) Used in conjunction with any equipment, parts or a system not manufactured by Uniden. Modified, altered or used as part of any conversion kits, subassemblies orany configurations not sold by Uniden;Parts Covered: This warranty covers the Product and included accessories.

User-generated Data: This warranty does not cover any claimed loss of or damage to user-generated data (including but without limitation phone numbers,addresses and images) that may be stored on your Product.

Warranty

Statement of Remedy: If the Product is found not to conform to this warranty as stated above, the Warrantor, at its discretion, will either repair the defect orreplace the Product without any charge for parts or service. This warranty does not include any reimbursement or payment of any consequential damagesclaimed to arise from a Product’s failure to comply with the warranty. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. This warranty is in addition to and sits alongside your rights under either the COMPETITION AND CONSUMER ACT 2010 (Australia) or the CONSUMER GUARANTEES ACT (New Zealand) as the case may be, none of which can be excluded.

Procedure for obtaining warranty service: Depending on the country in which the Product was first purchased, if you believe that your Product does not conform with this warranty, you should deliver the Product, together with satisfactory evidence of your original purchase (such as a legible copy of the sales docket) to Uniden at the address shown below. You should contact Uniden regarding any compensation that may be payable for your expenses incurred in making a warranty claim. Prior to delivery, we recommend that you make a backup copy of any phone numbers, images or other data stored on your Product, in case it is lost or damaged during warranty service.
