Safety Instructions

Read and understand this manual and all safety signs before using this appliance.For indoor use only.This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.Children shall not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.Wear sufficient eye protection when using the device.

WARNING: Explosion hazard. Butane gas is highly combustible.Do not puncture or incinerate gas containers.Only use and refill the burner in a well-ventilated area, away from sparks and/or open flames.Keep the flame away from combustibles. Never point the flame towards people or animals.Make sure the flame is extinguished after each use.Always let the device cool down before storage. Do not store above 50°C (120°F) and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight.CAUTION: metal parts become hot during use. Do not touch!Always handle with care. Do not drop.Never use a damaged device. Never attempt to modify or repair the device yourself. Refer to an authorized dealer for service and/or spare parts.Use butane lighter fuel only. Do not use unapproved fuels.Do not heat or burn fuel containers or the refillable tank of this device.Avoid inhaling welding or soldering fumes.Beware! The flame is not very visible in sunlight.

General Guidelines

  • Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages of this manual.
  • Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when operating the device.
  • Protect the device against extreme heat and dust.
  • Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.
  • All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.
  • Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorized way will void the warranty. Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.
  • Keep this manual for future reference.

Operation

  1. Release the safety lock under the ignition button (#4) by pulling it down until it clicks.
  2. Set the air adjustment ring (#2) and the gas adjustment valve (#3) halfway between open (+) and closed (-).
  3. Press the ignition button (#4) to ignite the GASMT1. You can keep the ignition button pressed to hold the flame or lock the ignition button with the “continuous” button (#5).
  4. Adjust the flame by regulating the gas valve (#3) and the air ring (#2).
  5. When finished, press and release the ignition button (#4) to extinguish the flame.

Refilling the Gas Tank

  1. Make sure the device is not burning and the safety lock(#4) is engaged.
  2. Close all taps, valves, and adjustment knobs of the device before refilling it.
  3. Refill in a well-ventilated area.
  4. Refill with decent quality butane gas only.
  5. Place the torch upside down.
  6. Insert the nozzle of the butane canister into the torch refilling valve.
  7. Press the canister down until the gas starts to flow.

  • All consumer products are subject to a 24-month warranty on production flaws and defective material as from the original date of purchase.
  • Velleman® can decide to replace an article with an equivalent article or to refund the retail value totally or partially when the complaint is valid and a free repair or replacement of the article is impossible, or if the expenses are out of proportion.You will be delivered a replacing article or a refund at the value of 100% of the purchase price in case of a flaw that occurred in the first year after the date of purchase and delivery, or a replacing article at 50% of the purchase price or a refund at the value of 50% of the retail value in case of a flaw occurred in the second year after the date of purchase and delivery.

  • Articles to be repaired must be delivered to your Velleman® dealer, solidly packed (preferably in the original packaging), and be completed with the original receipt of purchase and a clear flaw description.
  • Hint: In order to save on cost and time, please re-read the manual and check if the flaw is caused by obvious causes prior to presenting the article for repair. Note that returning a non-defective article can also involve handling costs.
  • Repairs occurring after warranty expiration are subject to shipping costs.
  • The above conditions are without prejudice to all commercial warranties.
