Bard 8403-062 Remote Indoor Air Temperature Sensor Instructions

Installation

Carefully read and follow entire instructions before starting the installation. Follow all local electrical codes during installation. All wiring must conform to local and national electrical codes. Improper wiring or installation may damage the controller sensor.

The 8403-062 Remote Indoor Temperature Sensor is a 10k-ohm Type II thermistor, which can be used as an accessory for use with Bard 8403-060 controller system or the Bard CompleteStat controller series. The 8403-060 can be configured to control using the 8403-062 remote sensor as the only sensor, or to average the measured temperature at the remote sensor location with the temperature at the controller location.

  1. Shielded twisted pair, 22 AWG (or heavier) should be used to avoid possible interference from other electrical systems. The shield (drain) should be connected to 24V Common (C) on the controller end.
  2. The sensor comes with a cover and mounting base to mount and protect the remote indoor sensor.
  3. Select the exact mounting location and route a 2-conductor interconnecting wire between the remote indoor sensor and the 8403-060 controller location.
  4. Terminate the interconnection wiring at the two screw terminals on the remote indoor sensor. See Figure 1 for 8403-060 and CompleteStat connections.
  5. The termination point at the controller will be GND and ID terminals at the right side of the controller subbase. Sensor polarity is not important.

Testing Completed WiringWhen the 8403-062 sensor is properly connected, the 8403-060 controller will recognize the sensor connection and automatically place Remote Indoor Sensor selection options in the Installer menu. Access Installer menu and go to Remote Indoor Sensor option. Select either “Remote sensor only” or “Average with stat”.See Table 1 for Temperature/Ohm relationship of the sensor.
