Installation – Aegis

Installation Requirements:To install your Bosma Aegis smart door lock, please make sure that your current deadbolt is a single-cylinder deadbolt. Double-cylinder, euro-cylinder, mortise, and low-profile single-cylinder deadbolts are not compatible.

While installing or using the Aegis door lock, please avoid turning the Aegis door lock too fast or with too much force, or it may cause irreversible damage to the motor.

1. Fix the deadbolt in placeUse the adhesive strip in the box to fix the exterior (outdoor) part of the deadbolt, in order to prevent it from falling when the thumb turn is removed.
2. Remove the thumbturnMake sure that the deadbolt is in locked position. Unscrew both screws and remove the thumbturn from the deadbolt. Keep the screws handy for the next step. If there is an additional plate, remove it as well.
3. Remove the base plateOpen the latches to remove the base plate.
4. Place the base plate over the deadboltInsert the two screws into the screw holes from the front of the base plate. Match both screws to the screw holes on the deadbolt. Please make sure that the base plate’s back side is against the door, i.e. the bottom part of the base plate should be flush with the door.
5. Mount the base plateAdjust the base plate so that the tailpiece goes through its center hole. Tighten the screws to fix the base plate on the door. Please do not over-tighten the screws as it may damage the door.
6. Select the correct adapterA. If the deadbolt has an arch-shaped tailpiece, please use the arch-shaped adapter.B. If the deadbolt has a thick, rectangular tailpiece that is upright or level while the door is locked, please use the shorter and thicker rectangular adapter.C. If the deadbolt has a thin tailpiece that is upright or level while the door is locked, please use the “+” shaped adapter.D. If the deadbolt has a thin tailpiece that is angled while the door is locked, please use the angled rectangular adapter.Select the correct adapter based on your dead bolt’s tailpiece. If the adapter fits the tailpiece but does not fit in Aegis’s motor, flip the adapter and try again. Place the adapter on the tailpiece.
7. Check the dead bolt’s locking directionLooking out from inside of the door, if the bolt is at the left side of the door, then it locks counterclockwise; if the bolt is at the right side, then it locks clockwise.
8. Turn Aegis to the locked positionIf the deadbolt locks counterclockwise, gently turn Aegis counterclockwise till the end; if the deadbolt locks clockwise, gently turn Aegis clockwise till the end.Note: Stop turning once you feel a strong friction turning further. Do not force-turn Aegis as it may cause severe damage to the motor.
9. Install AegisMake sure that the door remains locked. Open both latches on the back of Aegis, and mount Aegis on the base plate. Make sure that the adapter fits in the motor, and there is no gap between the base plate and Aegis. Finally, close the latches so that Aegis is secured on the base plate.
10. Power on AegisTake off Aegis’s front cover, and insert 4 AA batteries into the battery slots. After that, you should see a white light flash once, indicating that Aegis is powered on. Then, place the front cover back.
11. Set up Aegis in the Bosma appFollow the Quick Start Guide below to add Aegis to your account.

Quick Start Guide

1. Follow the Installation Instruction to install Aegis on your door.
2. Download “BOSMA” from Google Play or App Store.
3. Log in to BOSMA or create a new account.
4. Tap the “+” button at the top right corner of the home screen.
5. Select “Aegis” and follow the instructions on screen to complete the setup.

Installation -Aegis Wi-Fi Gateway

1. If you have not set up Aegis in the app, please refer to the Quick Start Guide on the previous page to set up Aegis. If you have already installed and paired the Gateway while setting up Aegis in-app, you can skip this section.
2. Plug the Gateway into an outlet. You should see a steady red indicator light.
3. Open the BOSMA app, go to Aegis settings-> Gateway, and tap “Pair”. Follow the instructions in-a pp to pair the Aegis door lock and the Gateway.A. Long-press the Pairing Button on the Gateway until the indicator light turns into flashing blue. Please then finish step B within 1 minute, or step A needs to be restarted.Note: If the indicator light does not turn into flashing blue, please reset the Gateway by pushing a pin into the Reset Button and hold for 3 seconds. If the indicator light turns red, the Gateway has been reset successfully. Please then resume from step (3)B. Long-press the Main Button on the Aegis door lock until the indicator light turns into flashing green.Note: If the indicator light does not turn into flashing green, please restart the Aegis door lock by removing the batteries and putting them back in, then long-press the Main Button to restart device pairing.C. Wait until both indicator lights on the Aegis door lock and the Gateway stop flashing, and the pairing process is complete.Note: If the Gateway’s indicator light does not turn into steady blue after the pairing process, please restart the pairing process from step (3)
