And we’re not disappointed. The Kyocera DuraXE Epic phone was released in April 2021. Different phones are built for different purposes.
The Kyocera DuraXE ($269.99) is one of the few devices that straddles the fence, in that it’s a feature phone that runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, an operating system that primarily powers smartphones. It offers more in the way of connectivity than your average clamshell, with dual-band Wi-Fi and 4G LTE on AT&T’s network.
While Kyocera is a ‘top dog’ in some consumer manufacturing circles, perhaps most notably its copiers, it’s a much quieter player in the cell phone business. Though their offerings may not grab headlines for breakthrough technology, they are certainly a respectable line of well-made and reliable phones.
If you’re used to voice phones having lousy cameras, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the Dura XE Epic. It has a single 5MP camera, just like the XP3 does, but its photos are bright and sharp.

Apps. The DuraXE comes with a limited set of tools. Remember, it’s not really a smartphone. There are no real apps installed, and there’s no app store.
The flip phone can have apps depending on which brand your choose, but the screen is usually so small that using them can become downright irritating. Flip phones can access the Internet, but even if you have won the Fastest Thumbs On The Planet competition it is far from the ideal user interface.
